R'enh sat against the wall in the dining cavern. His son was busy with
his apprentice duties tonight so he'd chosen to dine alone. He could
have taken his meal in his weyr but for some reason he didn't really
want to be _that_ much alone. He had some thinking to do, some
decisions to ponder and that meant letting his brain work in the
background while he sat quietly pensive.

He would have asked Aishara to have dinner with him but she was off on
some Wing errand. The thought of her brought a smile to his lips. She
was strong in herself and a pleasure to be around. More than that, she
cared. He knew she did even though she didn't say it, but there wasn't
a shred of jealousy or possessiveness unlike so many who seemed to
want to either put a bronze notch in their headboards or chain him to
their side. **which isn't going to happen.**

And there was Cosani, she was bright and a lovely bedmate, quite
tempting on occasion. But she was young and not in the frame of mind
to settle down, which she made abundantly clear. Besides, she was his
best friend's daughter even if that didn't mean all that much at the
Weyr, he'd been raised a Smith at the Hall and there was a bit if
guilty rub there at times.

Then there was the newest goldrider. Now _she_ was a very pleasant
armful judging solely by the way she'd danced with him at his birthday
party. He hadn't had the pleasure of closer acquaintance as yet but
he'd seen hints of interest. On a whim, he'd gone hunting through his
crafting supplies and found a pair of stones that matched her eyes
exactly. It was only a matter of a few moments to set them into a
filigree setting put together with ear wires and he had a pair of
lovely earrings and they rested in his pocket even now in a little
hide pouch. He chuckled at himself, shook his head and put his glass
of wine to his lips.

Saibra had just completed a rather long day of drills and after a good
scrub in the bathing pools she was ready to grab herself a bite to
eat. Both of her children would be out for the evening, and since she
still didn't know many people, the Weyrwoman's Second just planned on
taking a plate back to her weyr to enjoy in silence. Striding into the
Dining Cavern, tilted her head to a few people who met her eyes, but
her lips did not curve up into a smile until she found R'enh.

"Good evening, bronzerider."

"Evening," he smiled in return and half stood inviting her to have a seat.

Saibra motioned at a drudge as she took a seat across from R'enh. The
woman's tastes were pretty simple, and it hadn't taken a handful of
days for the staff to realize that she ate basically the same thing
every evening. "Are you all recovered from your party?" She asked
R'enh as the drudge brought her a plate of food and a cup of klah.

"Mostly," he nodded. "It was just a big day what with the hatching and
all." He knew she'd understand. Gold and Bronze riders were in high
demand at those kinds of social occasions when Lords, Holders, and
their ladies expected to rub elbows with the elite of the Weyr. "It
was nice to just relax with some friends." His smile indicated that he
counted her in that category.

"I agree. It gave me a chance to meet some of the other riders as
well." She lifted her fork to her mouth, and after chewing said, "I am
actually enjoying an evening of solitude. My youngest is with his
foster mother, and my oldest is staying with a friend."

"What a coincidence," he gave her a slow smile. "My son is off with
apprentice stuff," he waived a hand in the air. "So, I'm free to help
break up your solitude," he leaned forward with a suggestive smile.
"If you wish..."

Saibra smiled, a flash of her teeth showing, "I think that sounds like
a good plan, bronzerider. We could take dessert up to my quarters."
She flagged down a drudge to do just that.

He knew exactly what dessert he wanted and it didn't have anything to
do with food.
