"Wingleader D'hol, we meet again." Saibra smiled as she came to stand
beside of the bronzerider. Out in the distance Yumath and Chioneth
fed. The gold liked to give the beasts a good chase before she finally
descended on one, plucked it up, and gorged into it with her talons.

D'hol inclined his head to the newest goldrider, but kept his eyes on
the pair of dragons and an amused lift of his lips. Yumath had wasted
no time in getting to know the newest gold and exerting his
considerable charm. "You make it sound so dire, Saibra."

"Well, I wouldn't want to give the old biddies a heart attack by
seeing me greet you so cheerfully." Saibra tilted her head in the
direction of some wizened old greenriders who loved to sit and watch
the traffic through the weyrbowl so they could gossip about people.

A brow quirked upwards towards the group and his lips curled upwards
in a smirk. "Faranth forbid." He shrugged, knowing they were both
being fully watched and examined for any clue as to what their
relationship might be. He turned to her and crossed his arms over his
chest as he leaned against the stone wall of the weyr, taking comfort
in the shade. "How can I help you today? Another escape from the
perils of clothes fittings?"

"Nothing that perilous, this time, I just came over for conversation.
It is generally what people do." Saibra smirked a bit as she watched
Chioneth coyly accept a buck from Yumath. "I also heard that your
Weyrling friend has become your weyrmate?" She glanced sideways at
him.

At that, D'hol blinked and stared at Saibra. "I am not weyrmated." He
replied firmly. "Jeyme is staying with me. She is with child."

Saibra had grown up in the Weyr, and the idea that a dragonrider would
ask a pregnant woman to live in his weyr, but not as a weyrmate struck
her as odd. How did that work exactly? Wouldn't a pregnant woman in
your weyr put a damper on your dating life?

"Ah yes, I believe there was mention that she was pregnant." Saibra
would have been working closely with Jeyme were she out of
Weyrlinghood since pregnant riders were kept in tbe Queens Wing.

He nodded slightly. "I'm sure there was." The gossip had already made
the rounds, but mostly he ignored it. "Why are you curious about the
matter?"

The woman lifted her shoulders, "If I have to hear people whispering
about it I would just rather go to the source and found out the truth.
The situation sort of reminded me of myself and the father of my
children."

"Good personal policy, I suppose." D'hol inclined his head. "It does
tend to cut down on assumptions." He pursed his lower lip. "There has
been no mention of any sort of commitment between Jeyme or I. I simply
do not want to miss out on the pregnancy for personal reasons."

Saibra studied D'hol for a moment, "You can tell me if I am being too
nosy, but why is there no commitment?"

His response was dry. "You're being too nosy." His lips quirked
upwards. He was a private man and didn't often share what went on past
the private door to his weyr. "That matter is between she and I."

The woman smiled in return, having expected the man's reply, "Well, on
a less personal note, congratulations to you and Jeyme. Do you have
other children?" Most dragonriders D'hol's age would.

It wasn't common knowledge that Keilya was his, so D'hol could only
give a vague reply. " I"m sure I do, but it's often difficult to tell
in a weyr who a child's father is. I've never weyrmated, so there's
been a distinct lack of certainty in that regard. But I'm sure it has
happened." He glanced at her. "It's easier of course for wwomen to
know."

Saibra's lips quirked up a bit, "Yes, it is rather hard to forget
birthing a child. It tends to be one of those memorable moments of
horrible agony." She said drily before continuing, "Being weyrbred I
am, of course, a firm believer in fostering children, but, I must say,
there is nothing quite like the experience of getting to have your
children close, watching them grow up, and influencing their lives. I
have always kept Saidrene and Kaibren with me as much as time has
allowed. You will enjoy this time of getting to watch Jeyme swell with
your child and then later watching the child smile for the first
time." She guaranteed. K'fel had loved it, as much as their
relationship had been love-hate at the beginning, the birth of
Saidrene had brought them irrevocably close.

His face gentled for a moment as he nodded. "Perhaps I will. It is why
I want her close." He stood straighter, his expression going more
reserved. " Your childrens' father is not with you now?"

"No, he died shortly after Thread returned. He was a Weyrlingmaster's
Second, but due to heavy casualties in the Wings, he had to leave his
position and join the fighting Wings again." Actually, K'fel had been
anxious to go, it had bothered the brownrider to be sitting back at
the Weyr "babysitting" while his weyrmate and friends were in the
skies fighting Thread. **Stupid, arrogant man.** Saibra thought, not
for the first time.

He nodded; it was not an unusual story, considering the times. "That
happened far too often. I saw those casualties in my own wings, so I
am not surprised he did so. It was a brave thing to do on his part."

Saibra raised her shoulders in reply. To the outsider it was bravery,
but to Saibra, she would rather have her weyrmate still alive.

}:I am stuffed.:{ Chioneth told Saibra as she cleaned her muzzle off
with her forked tongue.

"I think Chioneth has finally filled the bottomless pit. Thank you for
the conversation, Wingleader." Saibra's eyes flicked back to Chioneth,
who was saying farewell to Yumath as well, "We'll have to do it again
sometime. I promise I can think I some more questions for you to
dodge." There was a light, teasing tint to her voice.

One brow arched high. "You're welcome." His lips curled up with dry,
sardonic humor. "I'm sure you'll be able to think of plenty. Amuse
yourself, if you must."
