A Birthingday Surprise

Writers: Ang
Date Posted: 19th March 2013

Characters: Z'hren, Ernola
Description: The strangest birthingday he's had yet
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 13, day 7 of Turn 6
Notes: Mentioned: D'hol

With so much going on with their recent graduation, Z'hren almost forgot a
very important day. Of course, when the little green flit arrived over his
head and dropped a bubbly pie over his dark mop of curls, it didn't take
long to remember.

"Note! You weren't supposed to drop it on him!" Ernola scolded as the
little green daintily picked at the sticky sweet pieces on the brownriders
shoulders. The chortle of Garreth from his ledge made her blush and frown
even harder.

Z'hren chuckled at his sister's outrage, knowing she was holding onto it by
the skin of her teeth. "Well, this is quite a surprise," he said while
carefully getting up to hug her. "Aren't you supposed to be at the Hall?"

"Innocence isn't your strong suit ... don't start now," she answered with a
smirk and helped clean him off. "I'm sorry she made such a mess. You were
supposed to eat it, not wear it. Happy birthingday."

Smiling softly, he reached out and brushed a wave of hair off her cheek,
waiting patiently for them to finish. "Thanks for reminding me. I'd
forgotten."

}: What is a birthingday? :{

** It is the day I was born into this world. Like your Hatching Day. **

"How on Pern could you have forgotten?! Did Garreth take your brains? I
remember how excited you always got," Ernola teased as she pulled off the
last of the yummy crust. Note, of course, snagged it before she could feed
it to him. "Shells, she's such a brat!"

"Just like you," Z'hren laughed before pulling her out to Garreth's ledge.
"No, I haven't completely lost my brains. It's just been incredibly busy.
We've graduated ..."

Ernola paused and looked between the pair with wide eyes. "So this is it
... you'll be set into a fighting wing," she whispered, fear and awe mixed
in her gaze.

"Aye, and I'm a bit nervous about where we'll be placed. We've worked hard
and I can only hope that we get into N'vanik's wing," he said, aware that
the rumors about D'hol may be exaggerated. He couldn't be as bad as they
say, could he? Besides, Z'hren got along with everyone.

"Well, I'm proud of you both. And once you've settled into your wing,
you'll have to come to the Harper Hall for dinner one night. I've missed
you," she said as she approached the large brown lifemate of her brother.

Garreth rumbled a hello then sighed as she caressed his eyeridges. He liked
this sibling who always knew just where to touch.

"I've missed you too and I'm glad you're here. Come, sit with us so we can
catch up. Tell me all about the Harper Hall ..." Settling against the
bulk of Garreth, Z'hren ignored both dragon and flit as they licked the
sticky goo of the sweet pie while the brother and sister caught up.
