Talryne

After taking some time to think things over once she'd found out, Rhosyn
couldn't take it anymore. So she grabbed an overnight bag just in case and
mounted up on her queen. She didn't give him any warning that she was
coming. Rather, she and Orlaith came through /between/ and arrived at
Dolphin Cove early the next morning. They quietly landed on the Weyrleader's
ledge and she hurried to get down.

}:Wake up. Orlaith and her rider are here,:{ he told both N'vanik and Talryne.

Talryne sat up. "Rhosyn is here?"

N'vanik groaned. He didn't think her visit was a coincidence. "Don't
worry about it. You want to finally meet or do you want to sneak out?"

She bit her lip. N'vanik told Loseth, **Tell her to give us a minute.** They at
least needed to put some clothes on.

}:Hold it there mine. He's not alone:{ Orlaith warned.
**What?** She should have considered that but for a second her mind went
in the wrong direction.
}:It's the one he lives with:{ the queen explained, already feeling
the annoyance coming.
**Oh well. Fine.** Standing out there on the ledge, she crossed her arms and
looked out at Dolphin Cove. This was a mess. She had half a mind to find Janani
wherever she was and browbeat her till she realized just what she had done.
**If I could get my hands on that little tunnelsnake...** And of
course she began to imagine the many delicious ways she could use to
torture the other woman.
}:Very creative:{ Orlaith remarked, amused.

It took some convincing to get Talryne to come out and say hi. They
came out of the sleeping chamber together, N'vanik wearing undershorts
and Talryne wrapped in a robe. "Hi Rhosyn, this is Talryne."

The young woman gave her an awkward smile. Talryne would rather have
stayed in the sleeping chamber until she was gone, or ducked out
without saying a word, but she could admit to herself she _was_ a
little curious about Rhosyn. The River Bluff Weyrwoman was definitely
shorter than her. "Nice to meet you, Weyrwoman."

Walking up to the pair of them, her hazel eyes focused first on Talryne. So this
was the girl he'd chosen. She was indeed much younger than Rhosyn, probably
not much older than N'vanik's daughter if she was judging correctly. That didn't
bother her, though. Brown eyes and hair, but she was tall. Reminding herself of
the young woman's history, she licked her lips, momentarily distracted from the
reason she'd come to begin with. "Good morning Talryne. I...am sorry to have
woke you."

Behind her, Orlaith was making noises and adjusting herself to be more
comfortable on Loseth's ledge. She practically dominated it, a golden background
for Rhosyn to stand against.

"It's okay. I need to go to class soon anyway." Talryne turned to
leave but N'vanik caught her arm and pulled her close for a kiss.

"See you later," he said. He wasn't going to push her any more by
trying to make her stay.

Talryne's smile was more genuine this time. "Later." She turned to
leave, pausing at the door. "It was nice to meet you," she called
before disappearing into the hall.

Still wondering over the awkwardness of that, Rhosyn was quiet for a little bit.
Weyrlife was weyrlife, though, and it was something she had _known_ but hadn't
come face to face with. As it was, she had bigger fish to fry. "So
before I say what I heard, I'd like to hear it from you. And I want to
know if you're okay."

N'vanik sighed. "I'm fine. So I guess you heard Janani left. I got bad
luck keeping Weyrwomen." His voice was calm, but his eyes showed a
hint of anger and hurt.

"It's not you so don't even blame yourself. She's just stupid. And if you want
me to whack her, I will." She didn't move to touch him yet, but the instinct to
wrap him with a hug was hard to ignore. "Is there a plan?"

He _did_ blame himself, at least a little. "Cyradis, for now. We'll
see if she sticks around. I did a pretty good job of pissing her off
already."

"Oh? What did you do?" That made her curious. She understood, though, that
a wounded N'vanik would take it out on others. Maybe she'd need to do some
fixing after all. **Helping not fixing, helping**

"I basically told her Qorri is in charge of domestic duties because she knows
what she's doing. I don't want someone to come in and mess it up and then
leave." He knew it was bad to think like that, but he couldn't help it.

Completely understand what he was feeling and what he was saying, Rhosyn
also knew how it would feel to be the new woman coming in and then finding
yourself with all the duties. N'vanik was also not the easiest person
to deal with if you didn't know him. "Ah I can see that."

"Would you like me to talk to her?" While she didn't prefer the role
of mediator, she also didn't want him to be unhappy. He also shouldn't
have to do
it alone-damn Janani. While she realized it was not her Weyr to be
meddling with,
she also knew if she could help him, she would. "And...do you want
some breakfast?"

It was almost bedtime for her, but she could stand another few
candlemarks before she gave out. "I'm sure K'sedel would also probably
want me to say
that River Bluff will help you any way we can," she said in an
automatic tone, though
she did mean it and was determined to back it up.

"No, don't talk to her. She's annoyed enough at Qorri being involved.
But breakfast sounds nice." He was feeling reckless so he asked,
"Dining cavern?" He didn't care how it might look to anyone.

"I don't have to talk to her now. Maybe give it a few days and try." The
way she said it meant she'd likely speak to the woman anyway. "Lead the
way though I'm going to have to sleep in a few candlemarks." Rhosyn thought
it might be half funny if suddenly there were rumors that she planned to take
over Dolphin Cove as well. A small smile came over her face as she thought
about what her old Weyrwoman would have said.

"And I have work to do, so I won't try to delay you." He offered his arm.
"Let's go start some rumors."
