Description: The River Bluff Weyrleaders go to the hatching at Dolphin Cove.
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr, River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 6, day 11 of Turn 6
Notes: Mentioned: R'enh, Meledei, Rondera
Hurrying to get into her hatching clothes, Rhosyn was running around like a
crazed wherry. With turns of practice, though, she managed. Once that was
done, she grabbed her jacket and helmet and ran out to her ledge. **Is K'sedel
ready? Where is he?**
}:Nikornath, mine is ready to be picked up:{ the queen relayed. Rhosyn
thought it would be easier to just hitch a ride since it was all too likely
that she?d be staying over anyway. The time difference made it hard
sometimes.
}:He will be with you shortly, he's just checking on his hatchling:{ Nikornath
told the gold. K'sedel and Ciara had determined that their daughter was old
enough to attend a hatching and had agreed to let her come.
}:He comes:{ she relayed as she continued to listen for news from Dolphin
Cove through the watchdragon and others. Hatchings were always pleasant
and this one was Mnoranth's after all.
Shortly after, Nikornath made his way to the ledge. "Ready?" called K'sedel.
"Yep," she replied before using the bronze's straps to get up in the
passenger spot and get herself strapped. This was going to be a fun night
and she was looking forward to it.
K'sedel made a brief check of the straps, even though he knew that Rhosyn
would have more than made sure they were secure. "Say when," he said after
a moment.
"Ready when you are, Weyrleader. Can't be late or R'enh will kill me." This
was his big moment and she would let him have all the glory. She almost
smiled. The last hatching at Dolphin Cove she'd gone without K'sedel and
gotten into trouble. She wasn't sure, but she wondered if he was going this
time to keep her respectable. Rhosyn smiled as she considered it, her hand
going down to give Nikornath a nice rub of appreciation for the ride.
Moments later and the bronze was in the air, circling to gain height over
River Bluff, before plunging into the cold and dark of /between/ to emerge
over Dolphin Cove. Nikornath bellowed a greeting to the watch dragon, before
spiraling slowly down to land.
Glad to be back in the warm once they came out of the blackness, Rhosyn
looked down at Dolphin Cove, wondering what the night would bring. When
they landed, she carefully got down and put away her flight jacket before
turning to wait for K'sedel to go inside. The dragons' humming was quite
loud at this point and she didn't think it would be too much longer.
"After you," K'sedel had dismounted and removed his riding jacket to reveal
gather finery.
Following the rest of the people inside, she moved toward their usual seats.
Rhosyn sat down and then looked out at the grounds, wondering how this was
going to go. She could see Elleth and the carefully arranged eggs. Her eyes
went over the crowd, trying to see Meledei and R'enh. "Is your granddaughter
standing again?"
"She is," K'sedel pointed to her waiting at the back of the queue of waiting
candidates, suddenly realizing how young and vulnerable she looked in her plain
white robe.
Before she could say anything else, the eggs started shaking and things
started to happen. Rhosyn's hand grabbed K'sedel's as she watched this life
changing event take place.
It didn't take long for the youngsters to find their matches, or not, on the
sands. Poor Rondera was left alone again, and the look on her face said it all.
But then he glanced at one of the newly impressed and the look on his face said
it all. "See the new ones, they'll do well."
