Y'gel

Y'gel

With Briata's help, she had managed to get herself dressed. Her hair
was down in all its glory, her feet in slippers. Rhosyn stood back one
last time to see herself in the looking glass. It didn't seem like
her, not really. The dark green dress with the gold embroidery was
beautiful, but open. She wouldn't overheat. It also bared most of her
body.

Taking a deep breath, she made her way down the ledge carefully and
into the Bowl. She wanted to let her Weyrfolk that were looking see
her. Bringing her head up, she stopped and waited for Y'gel. There was
a fur over her arm for the small time /between/ but she wouldn't wear
it otherwise.

Y'gel had gotten up early to give Aughashyth a good bath and oiling.
The bronze shone in the sunlight and his newly embossed breastplate
was displayed proudly along the the nicely tooled straps. He had an
additional strap and saddle pad especially for the Weyrwoman added
behind his own seat.

Briata had helped him coordinate his own clothing to go along with
what Rhosyn was _almost_ wearing. His leather pants were died a deep
green to complement her dress. His shirt was made of a light fabric
and colored gold with green embroidery around the neck and cuffs to
match her. Added to that was a green vest of the same fabric as her
dress. It was highlighted by just a touch of gold embroidery. His
buttons were just simple bone though nicely carved with dragon heads.

"My Lady," he swept a bow and took her fingers in his to lead her
toward the waiting bronze.

She used his help to get up there. It was hard maneuvering in the skirt
and slippers. Rhosyn thought about cursing, but held her tongue. When
she managed to get into the seat and strap in, then pull the fur around her,
she was ready to make it to Dolphin Cove, hot or not.

He shrugged on his own jacket and helm and rechecked her fastenings a
second time just out of habit. He buckled into his own seat and off
they went. Bursting out of /between/ into the the warm air of Dolphin
Cove Aughashyth announced them to the watch dragon.

Rhosyn looked down at the Weyr, knowing that there would be new dragonets
born soon. She enjoyed the ride, one hand resting on Augashyth's hide as
they landed. Once they were settled, she unbuckled and reached for Y'gel's
hand. It took some time to negotiate the way down, but she managed.

The fur was packed for later and then she turned to the Master. "Is anything
out of place?" It wouldn't do for her entrance to be ruined.

He looked her over carefully and with appreciation. "You look beautiful,"
he said. He especially liked her hair down like that. He tucked her hand
into his elbow. "Lead on."

"Silly, you're my escort. You do the leading. Though I think it'd be good to
go in and find our seats. It won't be long before the eggs start to crack."
She searched the crowds, her eyes looking for one face out of all of them.

He nodded and patted her hand then lent his bulk to getting her safely
through the crowds. They were guided to the seats reserved for the
River Bluff Weyrleaders' party. The rest of the people gradually
filtered into the stands then more quickly as the candidates began to
file in.

Once they were seated, she settled in for the hatching itself. Leaning
against Y'gel, she took a drink from one of the passing drudges. Then the
first egg started to shake and she forgot everything else.
