K'sedel

"So, Tsaera is stepping aside, huh?" U'das asked and put his klah mug
on table before sitting down across his friend.

"I know, it came as a bit of a shock," K'sedel said. "Somehow I just thought
she would go on forever."

U'das nodded. "She is, like, embodiment of the River Bluff Weyr. Do
you realize that she is the longest reigning Weyrwoman in South? Or in
whole Pern, since the Northern weyrs didn't even excist when she took
over the River Bluff?"

"That's what makes it difficult to deal with. It's the end of an era.
Whoever steps up will have a hard job filling her shoes." K'sedel took a
drink from the mug on the table in front of him.

U'das nodded again and blew off the steam rising from his mug. "Does
she stay as Weyrwoman until the next gold rises?"

"Officially yes, but she's scaling things down, ready to hand things over.
We'll just have to see if it will be Lenala or Zharesti."

"Or Ariau, although her gold may is still too young," U'das said.
"Care wage a bet who will be the next gold rising?"

"Well I'll hang onto my marks for the moment, I think it's going to be too
close to call."

"So it might be," U'das agreed and drank his klah in silence for a
moment. "Feels sad to think River Bluff without her."

"This place will go on though. And I'm sure she'll still be around, just
not as Weyrwoman."

"It's not the same," the bald bronzerider sighed.

"It won't ever be the same, but it will be interesting."

"Interesting. Well, that's one word for it. Especially if we end up
with someone young and inexperienced," U'das snorted.

"So Zack won't be chasing then?" queried K'sedel, a grin on his face.

"Hah, like I could keep him from chasing a gold. Any gold. Almost any
green too," U'das replied.

"And you have to let the ladies choose."

"So far the ladies have had a good taste in mates," U'das said.

"Indeed they have, and maybe the next one will too."

"Aye, and mean while we just wait," U'das said.

"And speculate," K'sedel said.
