K'reyel

K'reyel

"What do you want?" K'reyel looked up at his greenrider half-brother.
His tone wasn't outright unfriendly, but there clearly was not a lot of a sibling relationship between the two riders.

"Just wanted to have a chat with you, K'reyel," R'sedel said with an unphased smiled as he lightly perched himself on the corner of the table.

"About?" That was a question that demanded an answer.

"Whoa! Calm down, brother," the greenrider chuckled, raising his hands passively. "Just about Dad and his new lady."

"And?" An eyebrow raised in question, as K'reyel mentally willed the greenrider to get on with it. Just because they were half brothers didn't mean they had to get on, or even talk to each other. A weyr could be a big place if you wanted it to be.

R'desel picked up the redfruit off his brother's plate and turned it over in his hands. "Have you met her yet?"

"No, she's not in my wing, and she wasn't before."

"Well, why not?" the greenrider asked curiously. "I mean, she's carrying a new brother or sister. I should think you'd be at least _curious_..."

"I'd rather wait until I'm introduced," replied K'reyel. Besides, the only woman he wanted to see carrying a child was his own Weyrmate. They had been disappointed so many times, it had to happen soon for the pair of them.

"Well, ask Dad, then. He'd introduce you." R'sedel would never understand his half-brother's weird way of thinking. Waiting for a proper introduction? Who ever did that kind of thing anymore! "But seriously, I haven't seen Dad this happy with a woman for a long time."

"I don't think I have either."

"Well, then, why don't you meet her? She's nice! I think it would make Dad happy if you did."

"I'm sure she is. And I will get around to meeting her."

R'sedel snorted. "Before the baby's born?"

"Hopefully," K'reyel was not going to rise to this prodding from his brother.

"Well, you're a surly one, aren't you. And just has you in such a foul mood, hmmm?"

K'reyel just was just not in the mood to talk. "None of your business,"
he retorted.

The greenrider rolled his eyes. "You know, I will never understand how you and I are at all related."

"Unfortunately we are."

"Well, I just hope you're a bit more enthusiastic for Dad. This is important to him."

"I'm sure it is."

R'sedel shook his head as he put the piece of redfruit back on the plate and slipped off the corner. "Shards, but I feel for the poor woman who decided to take pity on you."

"Mai and I suit each other."

"Oh shards, there's two of you? That's even more unfortunate." He turned to leave, but looked back at his half-brother over his shoulder as he walked away. "Just don't you ruin this for Dad. That man deserves a little bit of happiness."

"I have no intention of doing so."

**Yeah, well you seem talented making people around you miserable whether you intend to or not,** R'sedel grumbled to himself as he walked away.
