Description: N’kevyn visits the infirmary to be patched up after losing a fight with firelizards
Location: Barrier Lake Weyr
Date: month 1, day 17 of Turn 12
After one of the claw marks on his arm had bled through his attempts at bandaging it, N’kevyn had resigned himself to the fact that he should probably take a trip to the infirmary, even if it did mean he was going to have to admit to having been mauled by a firelizard. If the alternative was continuing to ruin shirts, the minor embarrassment would be worth it.
It was late afternoon by the time he wandered down there, and he was relatively confident Aydhan would not still be there today. Still, when he entered the infirmary, he spent a moment looking around and listening for the familiar voice of the goldrider before he cleared his throat and said, “I was hoping someone could take a look at a cut for me.” Rather needlessly, he pointed to a rough bandage he’d wrapped around his bicep.
Garion was at his desk documenting files and quickly looked around the room noting that the two journeymen and the nurses were all with someone. So, he stood with a smile and stood. “Over here,” he held up his hand. “Let’s go back into one of the exam rooms,” he turned and walked towards the door to the back.
“Ah, thank you,” N’kevyn said, following him back, grateful for a little privacy for his embarrassing predicament. “I had a little run in with some of the local wildlife around Sunstone earlier today. It didn’t go terribly well for me.”
Garion smiled at the bronzerider. “I kind of thought that was the case.” He washed his hands with redwart and then picked the rough bandage apart. “Hmmm,” me mused. “Looks like we might need one or two stitches.”
“Well, that’s going to be a little difficult to hide from Aydhan,” N’kevyn grumbled, looking at his arm. “I hope I can count on your discretion with regards to my weyrmate. I’m not sure she’d appreciate that the important thing is that I did find some firelizards finally.”
Garion tilted a smile at him. “You know I have to do weekly reports of all injuries and progress?” He turned and assembled the things he would need. “Numbweed,” he asked.
“Yes, unless saying no will get me out of a report. You could just smudge it a little. M’levyn needed a couple of stitches,” the bronzerider said with a grin. “I’ve seen plenty of healer handwriting.”
Garion chuckled, "Well I imagine I could bury it in the minor injuries section. Maybe she won't read that part." He applied the numbweed to the cut and then took two delicate stitches with a fine needle thorn to apply the suture. Then he slathered the cut with a bit more numb weed and bandaged it. “Anything else,” He grinned.
"You're a good man," N'kevyn said enthusiastically, "I'm sure she won't look at the minor injury reports. Who even reads those anyway." Probably not Aydhan. N'kevyn didn't complain as the stitches were done, but he did watch while the healer bandaged his arm, hoping to pick up some tricks to improve his terrible bandaging skills. "No, that was all. Thank you for your assistance, I'm sure trying to stitch myself up in a mirror would have gone about as well as the bad bandage."
“Yeah, that would be a bad idea. “ Garion winked. “I would likely just delay your coming to see me. And result in an even worse injury.”
"And why delay the inevitable? It's been a pleasure, but I'll let you get back to your busy schedule, master Garion. Hopefully we can meet up under less bloody circumstances next time. Beer maybe? Or do you like fishing?" N'kevyn asked.
"Both are great," Garion nodded. "Or maybe flit hunting," he added with a bit of a smirk.
