D'men

D'men

When S'ros was busy with the kids' mothers, D'men usually took the time to tidy their weyr, read a book, visit with his mother, or enjoy some other solitary entertainment. In fact, once he was finished with all of his duties, he was well on his way to diving back into a smutty romance novel when he just so happened to run into a certain someone.

It was the rider who had so obligingly played pirates with him and the kids. D'men could not help but smile.

}:You want to spend more time with him,:{ said Abaroath. }:Maybe doing some of those things from that book of yours.:{

**Slow down, killer.**

"Hey," said D'men. "Are you busy tonight?"

That innocent little question brought a surprised squeak from Y'rim. "N-No? No, not tonight."

While he tried to ignore Quiroanth's delighted babbling over getting to spend time with the handsome Abaraoth and how Y'rim was getting to spend time with his crush D'men and oooohhhh wasn't this just perfect and exciting and no, Y'rim's heart wasn't racing now and his hands weren't sweaty...

D'men's smile broadened. Y'rim was every bit as cute as he remembered.

"I'd love to grab a drink with you. Maybe go dancing, if you're up for it."

}:Are you hungry?:{ Abaroath asked Quiroanth. He was always eager to show off his hunting skills.

}: Famished, :{ Quiroanth flirted back, even though she wasn't really hungry at all. But any chance to see the sleek Abaraoth in action she'd take!

Meanwhile, Y'rim was feeling a bit like this was a dream and someone was going to pinch him any moment now because had D'men really just asked him to go out for drinks and dancing? The wiry greenrider swallowed nervously, hopefully. "I'm...ah, yes? Yes. I'd...that would be fun, yes." Was that enough yeses or too many? Or too quick? "What...is S'ros coming with us?" he had to ask. Surely this was a triple thing, those two and Y'rim the third wheel.

"Nah, he's seeing Ferros's mother today. But, uh... if you wanted him along, we can do it again when he's freeā€" what do you think?" D'men had not thought Y'rim would be more interested in S'ros than him, but many people were when it came to _this_ kind of interest.

Having recently left an incredibly possessive relationship, Y'rim was still trying to wrap his head around weyrmates who weren't possessive and weyrmates who were also open to more than one partner. "No, I uh...oh, get it together, Yoli," he muttered under his breath sharply, using his own nickname. He made a quick placating gesture, saying, "I would love to do both of those things. Lots of things! I just...I am not a weyrwrecker, okay? I don't want to cause trouble if that's what's going to happen if we go out." Oh please, oh please, did he just really ruin everything by being honest?

D'men smiled. Shells, but he was adorable.

"S'ros and I aren't that kind of weyrmates. The kind that can get wrecked, that is. Like I said, he's seeing one of his lady friends tonight," D'men explained. "And that's just fine with me. He might even ask me for a play-by-play of how tonight goes with you."

"I told him about the time we met."

While Quiroanth happily squealed in his head, Y'rim blushed furiously. "The sea marauders game with the kids?" Truthfully, it had been the highlight of his day and he still grinned when thinking about it.

"Yeah." D'men grinned and leaned against Y'rim's shoulder. "We both loved how good you were with the kids. I know some folks aren't really interested in being around kids at all." Daslim's birth mother had not wanted much to do with him after he was born, and she certainly did not want to move to Barrier Lake, and so they no longer saw her.

But he saw both of his siblings' mothers as mothers of his own.

"Not that I'll be twisting your arm to hang out with them all the time or anything."

This sounded like the perfect segue into dinner, drinks, and dancing. They could continue getting to know each other while talking about the kids. Y'rim's smile grew, his nervousness diminished. "Your kids are great," he said. "I'd...I'd love to hear more about them over drinks. Did you...do you know about the tavern nearby? Talbor's place?"

"I love Talbor's." D'men beamed. The guy was a literal genius for filling that niche early on when the Weyrhold was new, especially considering his talent for remembering names and faces. And for putting together a killer menu. And for just about anything else that went into running a place like Talbor's.

"Then it's decided!" Y'rim said with a delighted clasp of his hands. "To our dragons?" he asked, knowing fully that Quiroanth was already coquettishly cuddling up with Abaraoth.

"Don't hesitate to say no if she's not comfortable with the idea... or if you aren't. But would you and your lovely Quiroanth be so magnanimous as to let you ride with me on Aba?" D'men smiled and held out his hand to Y'rim.

After a brief weakness in his knees, Y'rim said, "Oh! Oh, she'd be fine with that, I'm sure."

}: You ask me before saying yes so quickly, :{ Quiroanth teased. Y'rim slid his hand into D'men's and followed him towards the waiting dragons. This was a dream, right? Oh, shard it, let it be reality for once too! "Hello Abaraoth!" he greeted. "No pirate ships for us today."

Abaroath blew a puff of air through Y'rim's hair.

}:Promise him from me that I'll keep the ship steady for him,:{ said the blue to Quiroanth. }:If you would, please.:{

Once D'men was seated, he offered a hand down for Y'rim to pull him up to sit in front of him. He wrapped his arms around his waist and pulled him close.

"How's that?" he asked softly beside Y'rim's ear.

Y'rim had just finished chuckling over Quiroanth relaying Abaroath's words when D'men slid his arms around Y'rim's waist and there went all charming thought. Nope, he absolutely wasn't thinking about what those arms would feel like wrapped around him in other ways. Or being pressed against each other in other ways. Not at all. Nope.

}: You are sooooooo crushing on him, :{ Quiroanth squealed. }: This is going to be a _great_ night! :{

Secretly, Y'rim hoped that it would be a little more than just one night.
