Aydhan didn't realize how much _stuff_ they all had until it was
loaded up on Tymborikath and Avicath. Crates now haphazardly filled
the once-empty weyr that was now their home, stacked without much care
for what might be in them. But there were lights, actual electric
lights!- and the relative warmth of spring at Barrier Lake compared to
the chill of High Reaches autumn had Aydhan in high spirits.

}: This will be good, my love. :{ Tymborikath agreed. The memory of
the warmth of the sand of Dolphin Cove was long behind the queen now;
instead, she was fascinated by the sight of boats sailing straight
into the Weyr's harbour.

"We have too much stuff." She declared loudly at the sound of dragon
wings at the ledge. "We should have purged. Left everything for the
Weyrwoman to clean out."

Avicath landed with a grumble and a grunt, not thrilled to be playing
beast of burden. “Yes,” N’kevyn said cheerfully as he slid down his
bronze’s shoulder, “what should we have purged? Perhaps the creepy
tunnelsnake skeleton? Oh, or the skulls?” Despite his words, he
started carefully unloading their possessions.

"No!" Aydhan exclaimed. "Our home wouldn't be welcoming without the
tunnelsnake skeleton greeting everyone on the mantelpiece." She pulled
an item out of the nearest box and unwrapped it, revealing an
elaborately painted 'Telgar is for Lovers' mug. "This could have been
left in High Reaches!"

“That has sentimental value!” He set a crate down with a thump and
looked around, “And actually, I think this might be bigger than what
we had. Plenty of room.”

"Oh, so I get the full closet now? You're so generous, thank you."

“No no. Do we have to paint a line again?”

"Don't make me pull rank on you already. I'm the Weyrwoman Second, you
know. I should get the entire closet."

“Your rank has no meaning in our closet!”

"You just said yourself, we have so much space. We can get you an
extra set of drawers." She rifled through another box, pulling out his
heavy-duty winter riding gear. "We could have left _these_ at High
Reaches! What are you going to do with these now that we get to
experience a real summer?"

“What else am I going to wear when I go back for card games? And where
do you want that box of books? Oh- you’ll have a proper office now,
won’t you?”

"Yeah, it's just through that door on the left. I'll sort them later.
Be careful though, they're heavy. You aren't getting any younger."
Aydhan said with a sly grin.

He started to head towards the office, then stopped, spinning on a
heel to stare his weyrmate down. Without breaking eye contact, he
shifted the books so he was holding the box up on one shoulder, then
he crouched down and picked up the nearest box, awkwardly wrapping an
arm around it and straightening back up. “I have aged like a fine
brandy.”

She knew that box had pillows in it, but that didn't stop her from
biting her lower lip as she looked him up and down. "That box belongs
in the _bedroom_, darling." She purred. "We'll have to break in the
bed once that's all unpacked, too."

“Well, I’ll just have to make the bedroom my next stop,” he didn’t
look even a bit sheepish, giving her a wink before he turned to
swagger back towards the office. Where he stopped, staring at the
closed door. “Wife! Help.”

Aydhan laughed, the riding leathers forgotten as she reached past
N'kevyn to turn the knob and push the door open. "Be careful setting
them down too." She reminded him.

“Yeah. I won’t be able to toss you over my shoulder later if I throw
out my back,” he said playfully, putting the boxes on her desk. “Big
office. You need more things.”

"I'm a Weyrwoman Second now, I'm too busy to nurse you back to
health." Aydhan teased. "I need to set up the desk so you can sweep
everything off it."

“You’re a Weyrwoman Second now,” N’kevyn agreed. “I expect to be kept
in pampered luxury as befitting your station, but no nursing. I’m in
my prime. Speaking of ‘people for that’, why am I unloading all the
boxes? Don't you have people for that? Don't we have children for
that?”

"I let them go explore. They aren't at an age where they can
appreciate how much I love watching you lift heavy boxes." She looked
around the office, taking it all in. It was all so surreal still. "Can
you escort them to see the Headwoman later? I told Kapera I'd come
find her once we're settled. I don't think they'd appreciate it if we
both moved them into the candidate barracks."

“I do enjoy being watched. Yeah, I can take them down and do the
introductions. I think they’re more embarrassed by me than you,
though,” he said it in a cheerful, affectionate tone. Embarrassing
their children was just one of the joys of parenting. “I think they
also packed too many things, though. We’ll have to store some here.
You can give your daughter the extra drawers you threatened me with.”

"Not if I fill up the closet while you're gone!" Aydhan called. "You
should get the lay of the land, too. I should be on my best behaviour,
at least for a while, but you don't have to."

“If I put my shirts in drawers, they'll wrinkle,” he warned. “What
will people think of you with a wrinkled weyrmate at formal
occasions?” Finally, he took the box of pillows to the bedroom, though
he made the same show with that that he had the heavier box. “I'll get
everything into the rooms they're going in, then I'll go see what I
can find out while you do all the hard work unpacking “

"You make a good point. I suppose I can allow a portion of the closet
for the sake of appearances. You know," she said, leaning against the
door frame and looking the bronzerider up and down, "You wouldn't want
that shirt to get wrinkled, either."

“Oh, you’re right,” he grinned as he slowly and deliberately started
unbuttoning his shirt and slipping it off his broad shoulders. “This
is much better for unpacking. Just let me go get some more things.” He
tossed the shirt at her as he passed by, heading not for the living
quarters, but straight out to unload the rest of the crates from both
dragons. Shirtless. On the ledge. He ignored the chill.

Aydhan caught the shirt and tossed it back onto the bed as she
followed, with absolutely no intention to help.
