Description: Tsogath Rises and chooses Calaroth.
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 8, day 15 of Turn 10
Notes: Mentioned: V'rel
A'vel's customary morning routine was to eat breakfast and then go to
the bathing pools, unless it was morning drills or sweeps, in which
case he skipped the bathing pools. Tsogath was sound asleep, so he
walked the long way down to the Dining Cavern rather than bother her
for a ride. He'd been a rider long enough now that he knew her
approximate cycle, and that the deep sleep meant a flight. Hopefully
she'd let him finish eating, first. But he should probably tell his
wingleader he couldn't make that sweep.
By the time he got there he'd worked up a healthy appetite, but he ran
into a wingmate at the time, one who was leaving for her own set of
chores, and he got caught up in chatting before he was able to get his
food. He arrived at the table with toast and fruit and got about
halfway through it before Tsogath woke up and had the flight lust
roiling through her.
}:I feed!:{ she snarled, and bugled from her ledge before diving to
the feeding pens.
As he stuffed a piece of toast in his mouth and jogged to the feeding
pens he wondered who he'd see there. He used to dread flights and
anyone winning at all. Now he was just hoping to change the nature of
the winner. Hopefully not a bronzerider again. Hopefully she was going
to consider a blue. He'd been spending a lot of time with blueriders
lately, and maybe that would shift her feelings...
T'lin was finishing breakfast, chatting with a few fellow riders when
Calaroth's lust hit him and the blue announced his intent to chase. He
wasn't the only one who rushed to leave the table.
}:Tsogath rises and she _will_ be mine,:{ Volaith informed A'kades.
There was a tinge of awkwardness as A'kades rose to leave as well. The
bronzerider knew his son and his weyrmate's dragons chased, but to
wind up at a flight standing in the crowd with one or both of them
felt a little odd.
**Where's Rymeth?** he asked.
}:At drills,:{ the bronze said with satisfaction - he didn't need yet
another male competing with him.
Well, at least it was only one to stand with...
A'vel guided Tsogath through picked a small wherry, bringing it down
and forcing her to blood it, not just eat it. Males gathered to watch
her. Bronzes Volaith and Thadath, blues in the form of Calaroth and
Anaith, and browns Etirth and Gasrenth. Six males so far, but she
wanted more!
}:You will have to be worthy to claim me,:{ she called to the males,
bugling her desire to echo the Weyrbowl and summon more men to her.
Ah, there were a few more winging their ways in. Good. She eyed them
with satisfaction and let them admire her glimmering hide as she
sucked the last of the blood from the wherry, then launched herself
into the air with a shriek of defiance and a command for them to chase
her.
**Good luck!** T'lin thought as Calaroth darted after Tsogath. The
bluerider turned lust filled eyes toward A'vel as his mind began to
merge with his dragon's.
Tsogath was so beautiful, with her bright green hide. They were
wingmates and Calaroth knew her well, her humor and her sunny
personality. And now he burned with desire for the small green,
following her darting form through the sky.
Tsogath led a merry chase of the males, flying arrow-straight for
stretches of time until they got too close, then diving down or
whipping on a turn to disrupt them. Once she skimmed close to a
pasture of ovines and startled them, and after that she stayed higher.
Soon the chasers began to fall away, Anaith's wings tired and he
dropped out first, next brown Etirth after Gasrenth turned into him.
On the ground, A'vel's eyes traveled from person to person as Tsogath
in the sky considered the remaining ones. There were two bronzes she
could see in the pack, Thadath and Volaith. Her wingmate brown Tsuvith
was giving a good run of chasing her, turning faster than the bronzes
but not as quickly as Calaroth, who was still not as quick as her.
}:Do better,:{ she taunted.
Calaroth kept pace with the green. }:Tsogath, I will fly you well,:{
he crooned to her. }:And my rider will fly yours well too.:{ He
watched her carefully, ready to take his chance.
She had two dragons she knew with her! Tsuvith was calling kind words
to her, and she knew him well. She frequently partnered with this
brown in threadfall in his nine, had flown with him against fall for a
long-long time to her draconic brain, and knew he was a skilled flyer.
And yet from her rider, who was soaring with her and looking at the
men on the ground as she looked at dragons in the sky, she felt doubt
and revulsion - so she turned away to consider another.
Ah, but there was a bronze, and she so did love bronzes! Thadath's
bugle of desire to her mind was wordless but the green still felt it.
Her rider had no particular objection to his rider, not like she'd
felt he had about Tsuvith's rider. She turned towards Thadath,
crooning a welcoming noise. The bronze moved towards her - but then
another blue who she did not know well took a lunge as well, fouling
up the bronze.
With a trill of amusement the green danced past them both. It brought
her to Calaroth, in her wing, who she knew darted quick and bold.
Calaroth, who her rider was... considering not with fear or
neutrality, but desire? Tsogath wasn't used to her rider having a
clear preference and she let it sway her, sliding up towards the blue
and calling his name.
On the ground, even before the dragons entwined, A'vel was reaching
out with fevered hands to catch at T'lin.
