Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 6, day 12 of Turn 10
Notes: Takes place before "Let's Continue Learning"

Despite his understanding with Ayressa, T'ner had yet to actually act on his newfound freedom. It was probably more to do with his fear that F'aen would say no than it did with anything else.

But that did not stop him from wondering whether Ayressa had found someone. Or whether she had someone in mind already when they came to their agreement.

He had, perhaps, been thinking on it quite a bit. And to his own surprise, there was no hint of jealousy. Perhaps even the opposite. He wondered whether perhaps he enjoyed the thought of it. How strange...

But then. Their life had been nothing like ordinary ever since they had taken the opportunity to come to the weyr.

T'ner's love for Ayressa was undiminished. But the thought of her keeping a boyfriend? a partner?

He liked it. And at first, he did not like that he liked it. But it seemed a strange concept to object to after they had reached their agreement. Was it not all the better that he was not only resigned to the thought but excited by it?

Finally, he decided that he had worked up the courage to move beyond pretending nothing happened outside their weyr. At least on her part.

"Hello, love," he greeted Ayressa warmly as he came home that evening. One of their restday eves, one when Resser was with his foster mother.

T'ner ran his fingers through his mate's hair and smiled at her. He sighed happily at the sight of her.

"Was it a good day?" he asked.

There wasn't a clutch on the Sands at Dolphin Cove yet, so Ayressa had been spending time between some Candidate chores and her craft. She was really anxious for the _real_ Candidate things to start, but that would require one of the Dolphin Cove golds to lay a clutch. Coming home to T'ner's weyr when she wasn't in the Candidate Barracks was a nice change and it was the only time she had some privacy from the other female Candidates.

"It was good," she said, leaning into his touch. "But a little boring. What about you? How was your day?"

"The same as any other, but twice as long to wait through, knowing you would be home tonight." T'ner smiled from ear to ear. He leaned in to kiss her gently.

"How are your classes? Plenty to do between having two jobs?"

"Classes are boring," she whined a little. "I'm jealous of those people who become Candidates two days before the eggs hatch, then they don't have so long to wait. There aren't even any eggs on the Sands right now."

"Not as interested in weaving any more, then?" asked T'ner. He could hardly tell her to be patient. After all, his Candidacy had been short. "Have your eye on anything else?" He grinned.

"I still like weaving," Ayressa said. "It's just once I was Searched all I could think about was Impressing a dragon and being a Weyrling. Weaving seems a little boring after that."

"Want to go for a ride with me and Leh?" T'ner offered with a grin. There was not much more exciting than that. Except maybe that plus what they might do when they got back...

Ayressa brightened at the offer. "I would love to go for a ride."

The moment he saw Ayressa, Lehystrath's eyes whirled bright blue-green, and be danced from side to side with giddy joy. He leaned in very slowly and carefully to nuzzle her.

}:Ah, my best lady graces me with her presence once more,:{ he said to T'ner. }:Pray, deliver my warmest greetings. My hearts leap to see her again.:{

"Leh is as happy to see you as always," T'ner chuckled. "Warmest greetings, he says."

}:And my hearts leap, if you please.{:

T'ner laughed. "He insists I tell you his hearts leap within his breast at the sight of your lovely face."

}:Ooh, very nice touch.:{

**I know.**

Ayresssa laughed out loud as she rubbed the dragon's blue hide. "Have you been listening to the harpers recite their poetry again, Lehystrath?"

"Always, he says," T'ner laughed with her as Lehystrath hummed happily under Ayressa's touch. "It's the best place to learn it, isn't it?" He climbed up onto Lehystrath's neck and then offered his hand to help Ayressa up after.

Putting her hand in T'ner's, Ayressa found herself settled in front of her weyrmate, and she smiled as she wiggled back against him. Going flying was one of her favorite things, and there was something extra special about it when it was with T'ner.

T'ner snuggled in behind Ayressa and wrapped his arms around her.

"Where to, beautiful?" he asked her. They could fly quite a way in any direction without strictly needing to go between to see something pretty below.

"Over the sea," Ayressa said wistfully. The sun was making its descent and already the waters gleamed beautifully in the orange glow.

"As you wish." T'ner's tone showed how glad he was she asked for the sea.

A few moments later, and Lehystrath bore the couple out toward the shore and then over the waves. The updrafts and winds were different over the sea, so Lehystrath took the opportunity to fly up high before he reached the surf.

As they flew, T'ner held Ayressa close, resting his chin on her shoulder.

"This is peaceful, isn't it?" she said, tilting her head back so she could speak into his ear.

"It is," T'ner turned to speak back into hers. And then took the opportunity to nibble that ear a bit. "I can hardly think of anything better."

The touch of his teeth to her ear made a shiver race down her spine. She had been trying to be good since becoming a Candidate, after all, being pregnant would diminish her chances of Impression or be succesful in Weyrlinghood. But she was on the teas and it was her weyrmate, former husband, after all. It had been too long. Ayressa reached beside her to his legs, which rode on either side of her hips, and stroked her hands up his thighs. "I can maybe think of one thing better," she said playfully in his ear.

T'ner grinned from ear to ear.

**Leh, turn it around and head back.**

He would take it slow. Build up the tension. He kissed Ayressa's neck and let his hands wander to the bottom of her shirt.

"Tell me all about it," he whispered back.
