Description: Uetia and J'nne have a night out
Location: Vintner Hall
Date: month 13, day 8 of Turn 9
As Tribeth winked out of /between/ to glide over the Vintner Hall,
J'nne looked over his shoulder to make sure Uetia was okay. He hoped
her dress wasn't getting crushed between her riding straps. Already
the glows were on around the Hall and more than a few people looked up
as the bronze flew in to land in the empty grounds just beyond the
Tavern.
Uetia was less concerned about wrinkles in her dress than the fact of
chlll from /between/ creeping up to her legs. Skirts were not meant
for dragonriding. "Next time, I wear leggings underneath," she
murmured.
"Or just trousers," J'nne teased as Tribeth landed. He unstrapped
Uetia and offered his arm to help her slide down the bronze's
shoulder.
"That's the practical solution, but hardly pretty," Uetia replied with
a grin and dismounted. She really didn't need his help but took it
anyway because it made her feel like a lady.
He landed down beside her and gave her a kiss. "You'll still be pretty in
them," he said and offered her his arm for the walk to the tavern.
"I do wish they'd all stop staring though," he muttered under his
breath at all the people who had spilled out to look at Tribeth.
"Dragonriders tend to attract attention," Uetia replied. She was quite
used to it. She, as an exceptionally tall and muscular woman, tended
to get stared too.
Being a harper--and a nice looking one at that, he would privately
admit--J'nne would have thought he should be used to attention, but
this...this was on a whole new level. "I think I'm beginning to
realise why bronze riders are such insufferable pricks," he muttered,
before giving Uetia a cheeky grin. "I really think I should have been
a brown rider, I don't know what Tribeth was thinking."
"Don't you worry, if you get too arrogant, I'll just give you a clout
to bring you back to the ground," Uetia told him cheerfully. They were
led to a nice table set aside form the main crowd.
"Please do, I think my siblings would hand you the hammer as well." He
thanked the girl who handed them both menus. Giving Uetia a wry look,
he said, "You know what? I can't remember ever being here. What's
good?"
"We have been here before, although it was long while ago," Uetia remembered.
"Everything is good," the waitress intervened. "I can recommend the
river fish, it's fresh, caught this morning."
"I'll take that and mashed tubers and peas in butter sauce. And nice
white wine to go with it," Uetia asked.
"I'll have what the lady is having." J'nne held in a snort of laughter
at the girl's face when she took his order. After she walked away, he
leaned towards Uetia. "You might need to teach me how to be a proper
bronze rider. I seem to be disappointing the Holders so far." His eyes
danced with laughter.
"You're fine the way you are. Although, you probably should have
snapped your fingers and said something about hurrying it up," Uetia
grinned.
J'nne laughed at that. "Remember old G'larell? He used to snap at
everything and everyone. I think he even tried to make me get his
dinner once when I was playing the gitar for the dinning hall."
"I nearly snapped off his finger when he called me a wench," Uetia
grinned. Then her expression turned sad. "And now I miss that rude,
obnoxious coot."
"Don't worry we still have H'dol, F'warren and J'del!" J'nne named off
the stuffy old bronze riders with a mischievous glint in his eye. It
wouldn't do to have Uetia feeling sad on a rare night out.
"A toast for growing old," Uetia suggested. They were dragonriders
during a Pass, growling old was accomplishment worth celebrating.
"A toast for you as well," J'nne added, as the food was placed before
them. "Well done on your choices, this looks great."
"I have a good taste," Uetia replied smugly and then grinned impishly.
"Of course you do." J'nne grinned a match to hers and waved at
himself. "There, was that a bit more bronzerider-ish?"
"Yes, it was," Uetia laughed.
