Description: Cyradis brings news to D'hol.
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 1, day 12 of Turn 9
D'hol arranged the hides on his table as he kicked his boots off towards his bed. He rubbed his face, considered pouring a drink and pushed that thought aside. Kielya's complaints about the used skins and bottles had finally sank in. He'd missed a visit with her, and the young girl had given him a piece of her mind that he couldn't exactly blame her for. He had to agree with Cyradis, the girl had his temper.
Instead, he poured a cup of klah and sat in his largest chair. Running a hand through his hair, he laid his head back and closed his eyes. His silent reverie was interrupted by a knock on his door. He lifted his head, frowning. Typically, he was left alone after his duties; rarely did he have visitors in the privacy of his weyr. "Come in."
"D'hol?" A familiar voice said as she came in. Her eyes swept the room and noted the lack of the bottles and skins Kielya had complained of. While he hadn't let it affect his ability to lead his wing, he'd spent the minimum amount of time in any kind of social capacity to the point it had been notice and gossiped about. But, right now she had news he needed to hear before the rumor mill got to him. "Are you busy?"
His brows shot up as Cyradis came in, then snapped down. She hadn't been in his weyr since before Jeyme had left with Dheymin. In truth, he'd made little effort to speak to her beyond what was necessary. He'd been polite and civil, but little more than that. "Cyradis. This is a surprise." D'hol's voice remained even, revealing neither irritation nor pleasure at her entrance. "No, I'm not. I assume this is about Kielya?"
She crossed to a nearby chair and perched on the edge of the seat. His cool reception was in keeping with the way he'd been treating her for months so she didn't let it faze her. "Actually no," she said. "It's about your other child, Dheymin."
A brow arched as he watched her approach. "Dheymin." He put down his cup of klah and sat up just a little. "What about him? I see him once a week at Far Island. I'm sure you're aware."
"Yes," she nodded. "I'm aware. I thought you'd like to be the first to know that he's coming back to Dolphin Cove. Along with his mother."
He went still for a moment, then leaned back, taking a breath. "That's unexpected." His jaw twitched for a just a moment, then he took a drink of his klah. "Good. I'll get to see him more often, then. Hopefully with a more amenable foster mother." The previous had disliked him from the first. He fell silent for a moment before setting down his klah mug once again. "Will she be in your wing again?"
"Yes," Cyradis nodded. "And I'm likely going to offer her Wingthird. They both knew that meant he'd be seeing Jeyme in meetings and such. "I'll see about placing Dheymin with Kielya's foster mother. She may have the room. I think they'd both like that. Don't you?"
There was only a hint of his feelings about that when his lips thinned slightly in response. "That's your decision of course." He then peered closely at her, slowly arching a brow upwards. "I doubt his mother would agree to that. It'll be up to her who Dheymin's foster mother is, though I'm sure Kielya would like spending more time with him." He'd have little say in the matter and well knew it. But there was a definite questioning in his eyes as to why Cyradis would go through the trouble of arranging such a thing.
"Actually," she said. "If I have an opinion about it, Chaysea will assign the foster mother I wish. Normally we allow the mother and Headwoman decide but ultimately..." she spread her hands. Then she pointed at herself "Weyrwoman."
"I don't particularly see you overriding a mother's wishes on something that appears to be a trivial matter, honestly." He watched her carefully. "Why would you bother?"
"And why do you think Jeyme wouldn't like Dheymin to be with his sister?" She wasn't going to tell him that it was because she thought he'd been punished enough already for his lapse in judgement.
That wasn't a answer to his question. It was a deflection. Instead, he gave a shrug. "She may have her own ideas about who needs to watch him and her daughter."
She chuckled. "Alright D'hol, You go ahead and see the bad side of everything and I'll just try to make it work for everyone alright?" She shook her head and stood up. "Honestly you're the most contraryman. I'll see you later."
