Kielya

D'hol finished the single biscuit on his plate and exhaled slowly, his
meager appetite sated by the fluffy mass that had been brought up for
his breakfast. His gaze flicked to the bottle by his bed, but he
passed it by for the pot of klah, pouring another healthy serving in
his cup as he moved to stand by Yumath to watch Rukbat's slow climb to
its zenith. He always hated having to wait until just the right time
to /between/ to Far Island, to make sure _she_ would be out for drills
and had left Dheymin with the blasted foster mother.

The foster mother who certainly did not like him. The woman who always
seemed to make sure that his visit was interrupted for either a sudden
unplanned feeding, needing to tidy up the nursery or who felt the need
to constantly watch over his shoulder. He had yet to see his son alone
for the entirety of the visit. He'd been polite to the blasted woman,
but she was grating on his nerves and they were strained enough as it
was.

He sipped his klah, figuring out his schedule for the day. It was a
rest day here, so after he returned from his allotted scant candlemark
at Far Island, he would return to make good his promise to Kielya to
take her fishing at the small cove outside of the weyr. He'd already
arranged with the staff to have a picnic lunch filled with food that
the young girl enjoyed. He finished off the klah, preparing to put the
straps on Yumath, when he heard the knock at his weyr door. Brow
knitting, he walked and opened it, then blinked. "Kieyla? You're a bit
early."

She smiled and skipped past him into the room. "Momma said I could
come after I finished my breakfast so I ate fast." She twirled making
her tunic flare. "Like my new tunic? K'deren got it for me from the
Weaver hall. It's purple!" That of course was her very favorite
color.

He turned, looking a bit startled as she blithely pushed past him. "
It's a very pretty tunic, love. K'deren has good taste." He paused,
scratching at the back of his head, he tried to find the words to
explain. "Uhm, sweet, I'm about to fly out to see your brother and you
know he lives in another Weyr. I wasn't going to go fishing with you
until I came back."

Her eyes got wide shining up at him. "Ohhh, can I come? Can I? I bet
Yumath would love to give me a ride with you. Can he ask for me?"
She saw the look in his eyes and her hands slapped together.
"Pleeeeeeese?"

Uh oh. He knew that look and he felt just a little bit of himself wilt
under the pleading and the bright eyes. He cleared his throat. "Now,
Kielya..." He rubbed at his hair again. "It's all the way across the
continent and you know that your mother wouldn't like me taking you on
a trip that long." He glanced at Yumath, who quickly looked away from
the pair, suddenly interested in one of his talons. **Yumath...**

}: Don't drag me in on this. :{ The gently whirling eyes glanced their
way. }: Panitath is still upset with me because I didn't chase. :{
There was a hint of censure in the deep voice.

Her eyes clouded over and narrowed. "She wouldn't mind me going to see
Dheymin with you Papa." She walked a little closer and her nose
wrinkled. "You smell funny. What is that?"

"She would if you didn't ask first." He paused and frowned, looking
down at himself. He'd bathed this morning, first thing. He glanced
around and couldn't help but notice the slight tinge of scent of
spirits around the place. "It's nothing, sweet." He sighed.
**Yumath.**

The bronze grumbled and shifted uncomfortably, but gave in after D'hol
sent an image of Kielya's previously pleading eyes. }: Panitath, the
little wishes to go with Mine and I to see the other little. Will
Yours permit? :{

}:Permission granted:{ came the golds less than cordial reply.

Yumath winced, but relayed the message. D'hol sighed and looked at
Kielya. "Yumath says your mother will allow it. Grab your extra flight
jacket out of the wardrobe."

"Yay," she jumped in the air and then ran to the get her jacket. "Do
you think he'll remember me? I remember him. But he's little."

"He is still little and his memory isn't good, but he's a happy babe."
He waved her over to Yumath, getting the straps ready for another
passenger. "You'll be on your best behavior, Kieyla. Dheymin stays
with a foster mother just like you do. Be polite."

"Of course," she tossed her curls so like her mothers. "I'm sure she
loves him too."

He kept his opinions about the woman private, just giving an 'mmm' of
acknowledgment. "Alright. Hop up. We'll need to go in a few moments."
Yumath dipped low, offering a forelimb to Kielya.

She hopped up and scrambled into her seat with a huge grin for her
father. "Where are we going? I want to tell all my friends."

D'hol strapped her in carefully before settling down behind her and
strapping himself in. "Far Island Weyr." He tucked a small parcel in
between them and with a mental prod, he sent Yumath into the air.
