J'ackt looked over at Pierka as he ate, listening as she spoke about
the most recent drill with N'vanik's wing. He didn't respond as she
spoke but didn't ignore her either. He simply listened. She had made
it a habit of sitting with him occasionally, and though he didn't
invite her, he didn't stop her either.

"So..." Pierka smiled, "It looks like they may move me to the second
half of 'fall. He hasn't said for sure yet of course, just discussed
the possibility with the new influx of riders and added area."

Another greenrider walked into the dining hall and headed over to pick
up a tray like everyone else in the room. She scanned it carefully but
didn't recognize anyone specifically. That wasn't surprising really
since she had no idea what she was looking for... exactly.

Her long red hair was tied back into a runner tail on the back of her
head. A tall red headed and fairly young bronzerider came in and took
a tray behind her so she smiled up at him. "Hi," she said. "Visiting
from Far Island."

"Well hello Far Island," L'cor smiled. "You're a long way from home."

"Yes," she smiled back. "I'm Timassa. Looks like we all got an influx
of new riders," she sighed.

"L'cor," he responded, "Yes we did, we're eating in shifts these days.
Looks like there's a place over there." He pointed with his chin to
the side where a pair of blueriders seemed to be pulling their trays
and walking out.

Timassa made straight for the table and took the seat against the wall
so she could continue looking for... who she was looking for.

J'ackt shrugged a little at Pierka's comment. He still wasn't in
N'vanik's wing, so her statements didn't mean anything to him. "Hm.
Didn't know it made that big of a difference if you did first or
second half of a Fall." He picked at his food but not feeling
particularly hungry, stopped and gave time for a long stretch,
half-rising to stretch his back before he sat back down.

L'cor chose just that moment to plop himself on the other side of the
table so Timassa had to lean to one side for second to see the young
rider who'd stood to stretch. Of course the place was busy but she got
the impression of her sisters features around the eyes and K'yne's
coloring. **That sharding...** she didn't finish the thought about the
rider who'd just left her sister, because she knew it was as much
Ocktima's fault as it was K'ynes.

"So what brings you to Dolphin Cove today," L'cor asked pleasantly.

Timassa had to refocus on the friendly bronzrider

"What's the matter J'ackt," Pierka knew something was bothering him
but then something usually was. "You usually eat faster."

"Nothing..."He shrugged and felt a prickle along his spine. He paused,
old instincts kicking in as he stilled and slowly looked around, brows
snapping down. He felt eyes on him; not the usual passing gaze, but
something that felt more intense and focused. He half rose again, eyes
searching, but saw no one staring at him. "Hm." He sat back down and
shook his head, turning his attention back to Pierka. "Maybe I'm just
tired."

Timassa had eaten her soup as L'cor talked and finally she stood with
a smile. "It's been very nice to meet you, but I'm going to have to
get going.

"Nice to meet you too," he responded and rose as she left. Then he
sat to finish his meat rolls.

When Timassa walked toward the entrance she kept her back turned to
the young man she'd identified. But when she got to the doorway she
had to take one more look. She turned to look again in his direction.
He did look like her... well them. They had been twins after all. A
soft smile lit her lips. He was dining with a lovely young greenrider
and...

He felt the eyes again and instead of rising, simply lifted his eyes
quickly. What he saw made the color drain completely from his face. He
knew that face. That face still appeared in his dreams. His hands
started to tremble and he quickly rubbed at his eyes, smearing the
sudden wetness that sprang in them. When he looked again, the woman,
his mother, was gone. He rose, looking around frantically. "Where did
she go?"

"Where did _who_ go?" Pierka was concerned and puzzled all at the same
time. His face was white as a sheet and his eyes were almost bugging
out of his head.

But by then, Timassa was already striding down the corridor and out
into the weyrbowl. A few more steps and she was up on Saryolth still
with the smile for the young man, and the beginnings of a plan for
K'yne. He wasn't going to know what hit him.
