Zith appeared overhead at Dragons Fall, trumpeting his arrival with a
bugle. J'ackt was not as exuberant, but as Zith landed, he slid down
and tugged his jacket closer around him. **See if Saibra is available,
would you? **

}:Zith and his rider are here. Should I grant them entrance?:{ Chioneth asked.

Saibra paused, hand poised over the ledger where she was writing. She
hadn't heard from the Dolphin Cove bronzerider in a while, not since
his last visit when he found out she was trying to have a baby with
R'enh.

"Send him in." She slid the leather bound book aside and straightened
in her chair a little.

Now that he knew that she knew he was there, J'ackt made his way to
her office and strode in. He looked at her behind her desk, arched a
brow, and tilted his head. "You look way too serious right now."

The words made a smile break across Saibra's face, "Sorry, I've been
in Weyrwoman-mode all morning." She came around her desk so they could
sit at chairs near each other and be less formal. "How have you been?
How is Zith?"

Plopping down in the chair, he stretched out his legs and made himself
comfortable. "Good. Zith gets unruly during Threadfall sometimes.
Wants to be out front and I have to keep pulling him back. " He
shrugged and peered at her. "Look tired. You need a vacation."

Saibra laughed, swiping her hair out of her eyes, "Gee, thanks. I
can't disagree too much, though, a vacation sounds fantastic." Things
had been hectic with the arrival of River Bluff's displaced
dragonriders and Chioneth being close to clutching. "Bronzes want to
lead, it is natural." She toed off her sandals and tucked her feet
underneath her in the chair.

"So I've been told." Over and over and over again. He glanced down at
her feet, then sighed. He sat up, grabbed her leg without asking and
plopped her foot on his lap. He'd done this for her before, though it
had always been in the bed. His fingers found the arch of her foot and
tried to carefully rub the tension away. "Could always come visit, you
know."

There was no denying that the foot rub felt amazing, who didn't enjoy
a foot rub? "Yeah, I've just been trying to give Saidrene her space at
Dolphin Cove." She knew her daughter liked being outside of her
shadow, in a place where she could be her own person.

"You should visit her." J'ackt kneaded her instep the way she had
shown him she liked. "She does still love you."

"I know, but -" Saibra was cut off by the scuffle of boots on the
floor, and then she found herself looking up at a very familiar
silhouette.

K'yne's eyes were hard as he looked over J'ackt. Who was this? **I
thought she'd gone all exclusive trying to have a baby with that
bronzerider from Dolphin Cove.**

"Sorry, I didn't know you had company."

J'ackt looked up at the intruder and laid his hand on Saibra's calf
with an unconscious familiarity. One brow arched as he looked over at
Saibra. "I thought I was the only one who didn't bother knocking." He
kept his relaxed position, legs stretched indolently out, but where he
had been more relaxed, now he resembled a coiled spring.

"J'ackt, this is brownrider K'yne, he is Saidrene and Kaibren's uncle.
K'yne, this is bronzerider J'ackt of Dolphin Cove." She didn't add an
explanation of how she knew J'ackt as she wasn't exactly sure what to
say about that matter. Saibra could have called him 'Saidrene's
friend' but he'd been more than that.

K'yne nodded his head, the only greeting he gave. He wasn't stupid, he
could see how relaxed and casual the two were with each other. Rumors
had followed Saibra to Dragonsfall about a candidate....

"Kaibren left his riding jacket," he said, holding it up and then
laying it on Saibra's desk.

"Thank you for bringing it. He has a bad habit of leaving it wherever he goes."

"I tried passing it along to his foster mother," K'yne explained, "but
she wasn't there."

"Well, thanks for bringing it by." Saibra said.

"Doesn't look anything like Saidrene." J'ackt prompted quickly with an
arched brow. His eyes flicked over the man as his thumb idly rubbed at
Saibra's calf. Like K'yne, he didn't bother with the standard polite
arm grasp. "She does have company. Like you said."

Saibra thumped her foot against J'ackt's leg, "Be nice."

K'yne didn't rise to the bait as he would have a couple of months ago.
Ever since Saibra's miscarriage he and the Weyrwoman had been on
calmer terms. She had made it abundantly clear that she would do as
she pleased, and what pleased her most was that Weyrsecond bronzerider
from Dolphin Cove.

"I'll leave you to your baby-sitting, ah, _company_ then." Giving a
mock bow and a smirk, the brownrider turned on his heel and left the
same way he had come in.

He was gone before J'ackt could move Saibra's leg off of him. As it
was, he did not need to get in any fights; Saibra wouldn't appreciate
it, and he didn't need Cyradis raking him over the coals again either.
So instead, he gritted his teeth and took a deep breath. Turning back
to Saibra, his jaw twitched. "I was nice."

Saibra tilted her head, her hand reaching out to stroke the tick that
she could see, "You were better. Not a single indecent word was said.
I'm impressed." She teased a little, hoping to coax back his good
humor.

His cheek twitched again as he studied her face for a long moment.
"You kicked me." He tilted his head and with a completely straight
face, let out a long stream of every single curse word he knew. Only
after he was done did he finally break a smile. "So much for that,
then."

"Ah yes, there is the J'ackt that I remember," she smiled, glad that
the air was cleared between them again. "How are things going with
Cyradis and Kapera? Are they still watching over you?" Saibra knew
that he'd been given some direct orders from Cyradis and that he'd
been forced to see a mindhealer.

He shrugged. "Same as usual. Think I should get all chummy with the
wing, but nothing new there."

"If you do that do you get to go to another Wing? Or is the Queen's
Wing a permanent thing?" The last couple of times Saibra had seen
Cyradis they'd had business to discuss, so she felt behind on what was
happening at Dolphin Cove.

"N'vanik wants me in his, so it's not permanent. I shouldn't have to
go get drinks with the wing or eat with them. Shards, I see them
enough."

"I can't really disagree with you on that one. You should be able to
do whatever you want in your free time as long as it's not breaking in
Weyr rules. I don't think there's a rule against having some peace and
quiet time." Saibra didn't necessarily agree with Cyradis and Kapera's
thinking on the matter, but she knew Cyradis never did anything
without a reason.

"Besides, most of the time I want to be by myself." J'ackt didn't
spend much time with many people and could count those that he held
close to him on one hand. "I like it better that way."

"Just be a team player in the air and maybe they'll ease up on you."
Saibra advised.

He shrugged. "So I've been told."

"Is there anything else going on in your life lately?" She asked.

J'ackt shook his head. "Nothing really. It's been quiet."

"Quiet can be good." Saibra had always been of that opinion, there had
been a period in her life when she wanted anything but quiet. Over the
past Turn, though, she'd found herself enjoying some peace.

"Guess so. " He didn't bring up Alina. That ship had left its dock and
he'd not had much to do with her since his foolish attempt to woo her;
it still stung him. "What about you?"

"Nothing too crazy. Chioneth was caught by Erdenth again." Things had
been quiet around Dragonsfall, in a good way.

"So that's a good thing then, right? Same Weyrleader and all that." He
tapped her calf. "Well, sorry, but even if you threw open the flight,
you'd not see me in it. Much as I'd love to share a flight with
you..." His smile flashed, devilish in its insinuation, " The last
thing I want is to be a Weyrleader."

Saibra smiled, but refrained from saying that the opinion of the Weyr
went a long way in influencing who the Queen chose. "I guess it was
open. Right before Chioneth took off R'enh and Mnoranth popped in. I
hadn't even been expecting them." Not like the time before when she
had asked R'enh to be there.

He gave a half-grunt of acknowledgement. "Well, I guess I'm glad it
all worked out for you."

"You want to grab something to eat while you're here?" she asked,
pressing her fingers over an audible rumble in her stomach.

"Sure. Couldn't hurt." J'ackt patted her leg, moving it aside to rise.
