D'arvn

First time for how long Uetia was actually expecting Sirjath's Flight
eagerly. Not only would it bring relief from the general snappiness
she had suffered the past days. This time she had no weyrmate, no
pregnancy to complicate things. She could just enjoy it freely.
She inspected critically Sirjath's hide. It was definitely shining.
The dragon herself was still slumbering. It was time send a word for
uncle U'das to take his bronze away.

Sirjath snarled and battled her rider.

"Blood only!" Uetia said firmly, enhancing it mentally. "I want this
to be a good flight."

Still snarling, Sirjath leaned to bite the throat open and suck the blood.

"That's my girl," Uetia said proudly. She looked around. The suitors
were arriving.

Jacdeth landed nearby, the big bronze looking eager. His size made him
less agile than younger beasts, but he was strong and enthusiastic.
L'airev arrived soon after, eyeing the greenrider in that subtle way
some holdbred men did; looking without leering too overtly.

"Hey Uetia." K'mai smiled at his friend as he joined the other riders.
Good thing Sebeth was fond of her green. He'd been friends with her
for a while but he felt closer to Uetia since he learned he was a
possible father for her baby. Winning her flight would be even more of
a treat than usual.

"Hi, K'mai," Uetia was happy to see him. If she had a preference for a
winner, it was him. But she tried not to influence the outcome.

Y'gel walked into the room followed closely by D'arvn.

The bluerider dodged around the big bronzerider and made for Uetia with a grin.

Uetia nodded at him. Then Sirjath decided she had enough blood. With
loud challenge for the males, she launched to the air. She was strong
green and gained altitude fast. Uetia felt their minds merge. The men
around her became meaningless. All that mattered was the wind beneath
her wings and the fire in her veins.

Volaith saw this green go up and went for her. A'kades knew Uetia but
not very well, so he wasn't invested one way or another in the outcome
of this flight.

Jacdeth was a wingtip behind Volaith. Being big made him heavier,
which meant he wasn't as fast in his takeoff as other dragons. A quick
flight put him at a disadvantage, but his stamina held him in good
stead for a longer flight. Time would tell.

Sebeth shot after the green. He knew Sirjath well, knew her tricks.
}:I will fly you well. Choose me, lovely Sirjath.:{

}: I'm not that easy! :{ Sirjath replied. Taunting them, she found a
cloud bank and dived in. Once inside, she suddenly dropped altitude,
coming out of the clouds well _below_ them. She turned sharply,
heading to new direction and leaving the males far behind. She was
strong and she wasn't Hatched yesterday. They had to work to catch
her. First chaser, young blue barely out of weyrlinghood was already
dropping out.

Volaith was fouled by the young blue who dropped down right in front
of him. It took him a moment to correct and then he was behind her.
But he had stamina and could outlast the blues - unless they caught
first.

Falzeth swerved and rose up to avoid the tangle then he used his
height to dive back onto the crafty green's tail. His wings were long
and he could outlast her no matter how many tricks she used. Her glow
was unmistakable. He crooned his desire.

Luckily for Jacdeth, he was heavy enough to drop quickly, although he
couldn't turn as sharply as the others. Still, he wasn't out of the
running yet.

Folding his wings, Sebeth dropped to follow the green. Then his wings
snapped out as he turned to stay in her wake, showing off his agility.

Aughashyth didn't drop, he knew the greens and blues were far quicker
than he was so he followed by craning his neck to watch the rest of
the flight and stay on the same vector if not the same plane. She'd
have to come back up eventually.

Volaith was hot after her again, having cleared the clump of other
dragons that was in the way. One young brown had already dropped. He
snarled and hissed as a young bronze, just out of weyrlinghood, got in
his way. Why were so many tangling up?

}:Choose me! I am a strong sire,:{ he promised her.

}:You know I will make you feel good,:{ Sebeth called. }:And mine will
make yours feel good.:{

Sirjath started to climb high again, as high as dragon could fly,
above the clouds. She considered her options. Fine bronzes, handsome
blues and reliable browns. Falzeth and Sebeth were familiar to her,
choices that never failed to please her or her rider. Volaith was
unfamiliar to her, Aughashyth was a wingmate. Jacdeth was big and
strong looking one.

Falzeth followed close as she twisted and turned. He burned to entwine
with the wily green }:Be mine lovely Sirjath,{: he crooned.

Sirjath ignored Falzeth. Yes, he was fine blue who she liked. But
there was one she liked even more. Her mate of many Flights. }: Come,
soar with me, Sebeth, :{ she called her seductively.

Sebeth eagerly twined around the green, telling her how lovely she
was. On the ground, K'mai just as eagerly took Uetia into his arms,
claiming her lips in a heated kiss.
