The order of the day was to get to everything. Nisheyl saw something,
decided she wanted it, and then she was pushing her legs to get there.
Crawling was serious work and sometimes she stopped to just lay still
on her belly, slobbering all over the floor and whatever toy she had
grabbed to put into her mouth. Bringing her eyes around, she spotted
someone coming closer.

"Where do you think you're going," Y'gel said as he got down onto the
floor with the little girl. He scooped her up and held her hands to
let her stand. "Hey," he smiled into her face. It was rare to have the
children not strapped in someway to their mother. "I wonder where your
mommy is," he said in a singsong voice as the little girl bounced.

As if she had simply been called rather than referenced to, Briata appeared, Brigel in her arms. "Dancing with her this early? Well, I suppose she'll be good and ready for her first Gather." The raven haired woman's eyes twinkled as she set Brigel down, which, in his mind, meant it was time to attack Daddy by launching at his leg. Nisheyl couldn't have _all_ the attention.

Nisheyl did bounce, happily. Her legs weren't exactly completely sturdy yet. They wobbled and that caused her to shift in his arms, seeking support. When she saw Briata come in, her eyes lit up and she smiled and made greeting noises. Wiggling more actively now, she leaned against Y'gel's leg as Brigel came to it.

"She will be," he grinned first at Briata then Nisheyl and finally at
Brigel. "Hey there big guy," Y'gel said and reached one hand for his
son. Then he arranged them both in their time honored game. One on
top of each foot with their arms around his leg. "Hang on," he said
bending over to make sure their backs were supported and he began to
walk slowly lifting each foot with a child on top. "Whee," he said as
he swung them forward toward momma. And when he finally arrived he
stood for a moment to give her a big kiss. "Hello beautiful," he said
warmly. "How was your day?"

"It was good. Nisheyl's teething pretty badly, but she's handling it
like a sport." That event had spurred Briata to keep a bib constantly on the child in an effort to prevent a need to change clothes every five minutes. "The balm the healer gave me has helped with the pain so she's not been as fussy today."

The swinging legs game caused Nisheyl to giggle as they moved across the
room. When they reached Briata, she looked up at the two tall adults for a
bit, trying to listen. Then, she lost interest and let go, heading into the floor. Grabbing an errant toy, she picked it up and promptly began to gum it.

"Good," he smiled. The children were well cared for and no one would
ever say any different. "How would you like to go for a picnic
tomorrow," he smiled at her. "I'll take you any place you'd like to
go."

"Somewhere by the sea." They hadn't visited in quite some time, and it
would be nice to go somewhere warm and play in the water. Briata plucked Nisheyl from the floor as a rather foul scent wafted from the bottom of the child. "She hasn't seen the sea yet."

Making blowing noises, the smelly child in question reached up to grab
Briata's hair, sucking on it clearly having no compunctions about doing so.

"Well then," he said bending to pick up the other half of the dirty
duo, "I think I know the perfect place where these two can get a bit
of sun and play in the tide pools. Over by Jade Harbor there is a long
shallow beach with a lot of shade for the hottest part of the day."

"That sounds like a lovely place. I'll send in a request to the kitchen for a basket." The kitchens tended to be very generous when she asked for food for her family for any reason. At times, Briata wondered if it was because of Y'gel's position in the Weyr. She hoped it was simply an indication of how well the Weyr was doing. "We're going to have fun tomorrow, aren't we?" She cooed to both children. "Time to get that nappy changed, then we should probably head to dinner."
