"Weyrleader G'nir, Greetings. My duty to both you and Nirreth.

I am writing to formally enquire about the vacant Wingsecond role at
Dragonsfall," began the note K'reyel was writing.

"It has come to my attention that there is a position available, and I'd
like to put my name forward for consideration. As I'm sure you are aware, I
have a fair few turns of experience as Wingsecond to my father, Weyrleader
K'sedel. However, I know feel that to progress I need to take that step out
of my comfort zone and experience a different Weyr with different
personalities."

The wingsecond paused as he read back what he had written so far. Mai had
agreed with him that perhaps a move would be good for them and Mayel was too
small to object yet. They were pretty sure he'd love the idea of snow, and
while he'd miss having a grandfather close by, it wasn't as though he
couldn't visit, a dragon would have them back in the sun in moments.

"Of course I understand that you may have another in mind, or wish to
interview suitable candidates, all I ask for the moment is to be kept
informed as to what happens next.

Wingsecond K'reyel of bronze Erdenth."

The note was blown on to try the ink, then swiftly rolled into a message
tube.

**Erdenth, can you ask the little one to take this to Dragonsfall for me?**
he asked of his bronze. His weyrmate's bronze flit was usually pretty good
at taking messages, so long as he was rewarded well enough, or what the flit
considered to be well enough which was usually most of a child size
meatroll.

}:I can try,:{ the bronze replied, even as he formed the picture of a
message in his head, sending on to the flit, followed by an image of the
other Weyr.

The pictures seemed to be enough for Tero, who came closer, and chirping
demanded a fee in advance, even as he waited for the message to be fitted
into the tube he could carry. Meatroll pieces were devoured, then the
little creature spread his wings, circling out over the weyrledge, before
disappearing /between/.

G'nir cocked his head when an unfamiliar firelizard landed on his desk. He
was delivering a message, that much was apparent. G'nir took off the message
tube. "Will you stick around for reply?" he did feel bit silly talking to
the little creature. He gave him some tidbits of dried meat from a jar
reserved just for this use. The staff kept it full. He read the message.
Then he leaned backwards and thought. K'reyel, he knew, was few turns
younger than he and had a good reputation. He had been Weyrleader for a
brief period, the time between Gold's Flights. He was experienced and
experience is what his Weyr needed.

He picked up his pen and wrote an answer:

"Greetings to you, K'reyel, rider of bronze Erdenth. I'm pleased with your
interest and willing to consider you for the open wingsecond's position.
However, I wish to meet you personally before making the decision. When
would it be most convinient for you to come for an interview? Sincerly
Yours, G'nir, Weyrleader of Dragonsfall Weyr."
It was bit brief for a letter G'nir had written, but he was worried the
bronze firelizard would disappear if he got too flowery with the letter. He
rolled it to the tube and attached it back to flit. "Go home now," he told
him.

The bronze popped back into the warmth of River Bluff with a start. Settling
into the weyr his person lived in, he stuck out a leg, showing the tube
attached. K'reyel was there, waiting for it. A smile spread across the
bronzerider's face as he read the reply. It was better than he hoped for, an
interview at least gave him the chance to see if he could do this.

A note was composed in response.

"Weyrleader G'nir. Thank you for your prompt reply. I would be happy to
interview. I would suggest the day after the next threadfall at Dragonsfall?
I believe that would be the 17th of this month, Regards, K'reyel."

Tero was pressed into message duty one more time. All being well, he would
soon come back with an affirmative response.

G'nir smiled when he received the reply. He quickly penned a reply for the
flit
to take, agreeing to the time and place.

Unknowingly the smile was echoed by K'reyel when he read G'nir's response,
maybe, this would work out for him.
