"You wanted to see me sir," Pierka asked as she walked into her
Wingleader's office. She blinked when she saw the Weyrwoman sitting
there as well and then nodded. "Ma'am."

"Come on in Pierka," Cyradis smiled.

"Don't worry, you're not in trouble," N'vanik said lightly.

She nodded and entered the office. It was pretty rare for anyone who
was not in trouble to meet with Weyrleaders one on one so it puzzled
her. "Yes sir," she nodded and took a seat.

"As you know Pierka, a new queen was hatched at River Bluff recently.
N'vanik and I attended the hatching there,' Cyradis started.

Pierka's brows twitched together. "I heard that ma'am," she nodded not
understanding what that had to do with anything.

N'vanik wanted to ease into this and not get her hopes up too much.
"We met the new goldrider and her grandparents. The goldrider looks a
lot like you. Now, it could just be coincidence, but she lost her
parents and a sister in a hurricane a few years back."

Cyradis watched carefully as the young woman's mind tried to absorb
the information N'vanik had just given her.

Pierka's mouth dropped open first in shock as she processed what she
had just been told. She looked back and forth between the Weyrleaders
as hope began to dawn. "Do you," her hand covered her mouth for a
moment. "Do you think they're my family?"

"It's... possible." N'vanik looked to Cyradis for help.

She nodded in response. "We do believe so. There are several
coincidences in their story that seem to be similar to yours. But we
didn't want to bring them here until we knew how you felt about it."

Pierka stared at her hands. She didn't really know how she felt about
it. She'd begun to build a real family here at the Weyr. She wasn't
all that certain she wanted to meet these people. "Would it be
alright if I talked it over with Z'ku?"

"Of course. But we did tell them about you. Sooner or later they'll
get themselves here." Cyradis looked kindly at the young greenrider.
She knew Pierka fairly well from her time in the Queen's wing and part
of her understood the struggle the younger woman was going through.
She smiled, "Just imagine what it would be like for your baby to have
an aunt and great grandparents."

Pierka looked up at that and smiled. "That would be pretty wonderful
wouldn't it?"

"They seemed like nice folk. Family can be... complicated, but if I
were you I'd think I'd want to meet them," N'vanik said. "Cosani and I
don't have the closest relationship, but I'm still glad she's part of
my life."

Pierka looked back and forth between the Weyrleaders. She still wasn't
completely certain but if there really was a chance these people were
related to her... "Yes," she smiled "I think I'd like that."
