"Hey squirt," L'cor said from where he leaned against the wall near
the entrance to the Stewards section. "How's he treating you," he
asked with a half smile.
"Hey, L'cor! Where did you come from?" Corofel replied with excited
voice when he noticed the young bronzerider. He barely knew his older
half-brother, but having a dragonrider in the family was still
exciting.
"Came for a quick visit," L'cor smiled. "I don't get to see you very
often and thought Tonuth and I would take you for a ride if that's ok
with your boss. Think you can get away?"
"I'm sure I can arrange it," Corofel grinned. "I would love a ride!"
His eyes shone with just the thought of it.
"Great," L'cor smiled. "I'll be outside, it's a beautiful day."
"See you soon," Corofel replied with a nod and turned back to way he
had come. It was time to wheedle out a permission.

Corofel ran outside, jacket and the helmet hanging from his hands. He
looked around, it wasn't hard to spot a bronze dragon. He slowed to
jog, he didn't want to startle someone so _big_. "Hey, you're
handsome, you know that?" he said to the dragon and craned his neck up
to see.
Tonuth accepted the complement as his due and his neck curved around
so he could peer at the boy.
"He says thank you," L'cor called down. "Can you climb up?"
"Sure, just a sec," Corofel grinned with anticipation. He quickly
dressed on the helmet and jacket. "I'm not riding a dragon for the
first time," he boasted and scurried up to Tonuth's back. "Although
he's bigger than the last one."
"He is pretty big." L'cor grinned. "But that is good in a bronze don't
you think brother?" The bronzerider was happy to have brothers and
sisters who now knew about and acknowledged him as their father had
done.
"Yeah. I bet he's brave too," Corofel patted the bronze hide beneath him.
"Hang on," L'cor said and a moment later they were in the air soaring
away from Amber Hills.
Corofel let out a loud whoop out of sheer joy and excitement. He
leaned precariously sideways to see the land beneath them. "It's like
a map!" he yelled over the wind.
"Yes it is!" he called back and with a thought to Tonuth they began to
spiral around the hold slowly gaining altitude until they could see
from one end of the valley to the other.
"Whoo! Is that Hidden Meadows?!" Corofel was having a time of his life.
"Yes," L'cor grinned. "Want to go to the beach?"
"We can go there? I sure do!" Corofel replied with surprise.
A few moments of /between/ and they were swinging over the water and
then back to the shore at Dolphin Cove. The day was beautiful and warm
and there was a pod of dolphin's just off shore. "How's this," he
grinned when they touched down.
"Great. Umh, I didn't bring in swimming suit," Corofel said.
"I think ahead," L'cor winked and pulled one out of his pack. It was
one of the ones he'd brought with him to the Weyr and no longer
fitted. He'd been rather scrawny when he'd come but tending to Tonuth
and tossing around firestone sacks had put muscle on his frame. Plus
he'd grown another inch. He pointed at the nearby candidate barracks.
"Just run in there and put them on. We'll wait right here."
"You're the best!" it didn't take Corofel long to get out of the
straps, slid down from the bronze and ran to cover to get changed.
"No problem," he grinned as he watched his little brother dash off to
change. He just pulled off his own clothes and stuffed them in the net
under a log and pulled off Tonuth's straps so he could swim too. Of
course he had on his own trunks not to embarrass the kid. Then he
spott some water spouts. "Hurry up Corofel, there's dolphins," and if
he wasn't mistaken there were some dolphineers with them.
Corofel's eyes shone with excitement. "I haven't swam with them since
we moved out of Coral Bay hold." Sometimes he missed the tropical sea
of Coral Bay. The rivers and lakes just weren't the same and there was
no dolphins.
"Well, let's go see who's out there. Shall we?" L'cor ran toward the
water and in to about his waist before he dove into the waves.
Cofofel wasn't much slower than him and soon dove under a wave. He
swam well, having been born in a seahold.
L'cor cheered when he saw how well Corofel swam. He was less worried
about the kid. "Let's go see what those dolphineer's are doing."
"Okay," Corofel agreed and started to swam towards the pod.
Milga was swimming with the pod, removing parasites and doing diving
exercisess. The dolphins had already told her about the dragon on the
beach. She ignored that, dragons were common enough this near Weyr.
L'cor waved as they got closer. "Hey Milga," he called. "Thought you'd
like to meet my brother. This is Corofel," he smiled as they treaded
water among the dolphins.
"Hello, L'cor. Nice to meet you, Corofel," Milga replied and eyed the
younger boy curiously. So, this was Lord Holder's Heir.
"Hi, are you dolphineer?" Corofel asked. He laughed when one of the
dolphins came to poke him with his nose and grabed his fin for
support.
"Yes, I am, apprentice though," Milga nodded. "You seem familiar with
dolphins," she noted.
"I was born in Coral Bay, they had pod and dolphineers there," Corofel
replied. He didn't miss that Milga was quite a pretty girl and about
the same age with him.
"Plaayy," one of the dolphins whistled.
"Okay, let's play," Corofel replied eagerly.
