It is a perennial flowering plant in the legume family Fabaceae. It is cultivated as an important forage crop in many countries around the world. It is used for grazing, hay, and silage, as well as a green manure and cover crop.
Uses:
medicinal, as a tea, it is good for the stomach. diuretic. Beast feed.

Grows to 80cm. Has purple flowers and 3-part leaves. leaves and sprouted seeds can be eaten in salads. It is an appetite stimulant for convalescents and is used by Arabs as horse fodder to increase speed. It is also said to increase the production of cow's milk. The seeds are used to make a yellow dye.
