A Hold is a place where people live on About Pern… a community. Normally the size of a village or small town they can some times grow larger. Small ones are led by a Holder and smaller Holds are beholden to Major ones that are managed by a Lord Holder.
Holds take care to keep greenery at bay and are built from stone and other non-organic materials to prevent damage by Thread should it get through.
