Description: J'nus is leaving Dragonsfall Weyr
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr

The warmth -- that was what J'nus noticed first after coming out from /between/. That and the sun, brilliant and hot in a bright blue sky. Squinting, he turned his attention to the Weyr below. A half circle of stone jutting up above the sea, with long stretches of pale sand and vibrant green grass. He'd missed the sea...
}:I see Loseth,:{ Kopth informed him. The bronze angled his wings to bring them in to a gentle dive toward the ground. }:I have told him that you are here.:{
**Good.** It had been a while since he'd seen N'vanik, and although they'd never been friendly, J'nus found himself cautiously looking forward to their meeting. It would be interesting to see how the man had changed. The bronzerider he'd known at Dragonsfall Weyr couldn't be the same man that now wore Dolphin Cove's Weyrleader knots-- the N'vanik he'd flown with was impetuous, rash and angry. Much like he'd been himself, turns ago. But by all accounts N'vanik had changed when he'd earned his knots, and J'nus knew for a fact that people could, and did, change.
Kopth landed on the heights, and J'nus sent him winging off to find a sunny spot to lounge in while he found the Weyrleader. He headed toward the nearest likely opening and paused in the entrance to let his eyes adjust from the dazzle of the tropical sun to the dim of inside.
He ended up having to ask a drudge for directions. "Take your first right, down the steps, then the third... no, fourth door on your left," she told him. J'nus thanked her and did as he was directed, and rapped his knuckles against the door he'd been told was the Weyrleader's.
"Come in!" N'vanik called. This should be interesting. One of his former Wingleaders, though _not_ one of the one's he'd punched. N'vanik's mouth turned up in amusement.
"N'vanik. Hello." J'nus entered the office, not bothering to hide his curiosity at his surroundings. The office was typical of a Weyrleader's - big desk, lots of glows, too many hides. And N'vanik looked as if he belonged here. Physically he looked the same, but the tense set of his shoulders had eased and the brittleness around his eyes had lessened. The bronzerider had never done well with authority, but now that he _was_ the authority, the Weyr's structure seemed to suit him. J'nus wasn't particularly surprised. "You look well."
"Thanks." He gave the man a little smile. "Have a seat. So, looking to escape the cold?"
"A nice warm beach after Threadfall sounds pretty nice right about now," J'nus said. "It's been snowing like blazes."
"I really don' t miss that." N'vanik chuckled.
"I'd be surprised if you did." J'nus sat across from the younger bronzerider and leaned back comfortably in his chair. "And you're right. I'm interested in transferring. Do you have room for a bronzerider?"
"Always." Though they weren't as desperate as they had been even a turn ago. "Nothing ranking at the moment, but I can always use an experienced wingrider. We have a number of young bronzeriders that could use some mentoring."
J'nus shrugged. "That's fine. I'm just looking for some sun and heat."
"This is definitely the place for that. How soon are you looking to transfer?"
There was no delicate way to say it, so J'nus was blunt. "As soon as I'm able," he told the Weyrleader. "I can be here in a sevenday, if need be." After everything that was happening at Dragonsfall Weyr, he couldn't get out of there quickly enough.
N'vanik arched an eyebrow. "Fleeing the chaos?" Goldriders and their fickle natures. At least it wasn't his Weyr dealing with it this time.
J'nus grimaced. "It will be chaotic. U'kaiah's going too." Losing the Weyrwoman and Wingleader and bleeding stable wingriders from Dragonsfall to take with them... it wasn't going to be pretty. Which wasn't his whole reason for leaving, but J'nus was content to let N'vanik draw his own conclusions.
**After all that talk of never leaving Dragonsfall...** Well, people changed. N'vanik was proof enough of that. "It's good to know you think Dolphin Cove is the stable choice."
"Is it?" J'nus shot back, just for the hell of it.
"As stable as any Weyr can be early in a Pass."
Interesting. Perhaps N'vanik _had_ changed. The bronzerider he'd known would have boasted a lot more, or reacted defensively. And his response hinted at the fact that none of Dolphin Cove's leadership was leaving to seek their fortune in the north. "Well," J'nus said, reaching into his beltpouch for the transfer papers he'd brought. "I'll leave these with you, then. Just let me know when I can make the move official."
"If the Headwoman has time, you can go speak to her now to look at the open weyrs. You can join us as soon as you'd like." It never hurt to have another experienced bronzerider. As much as N'vanik hated to think about it, at some point they'd need to replace a Wingleader or 'Second and J'nus would be a capable choice.
"Then I'll see you in a sevenday." J'nus stood and held his hand out to N'vanik.
The Weyrleader took his hand. "Welcome to Dolphin Cove, J'nus." Having one of his former Wingleaders around might be... interesting. Or maybe J'nus would fit in with no trouble at all. Time would tell.
