Description: The two of them go flying together.
Location: Elsewhere on Pern, River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 7, day 2 of Turn 7
Notes: Part 1 of 2; Mentioned: Lenala, Hygalia, K'sedel, N'vanik, R'enh, Bahji, Y'gel, Briata

Standing on the outside of the ledge to her weyr, she was looking over
her flamethrower. The smiths had returned it after so much disuse. It
seemed to be in good working order but she liked to make sure. Rhosyn
was wearing shorts and a thin tunic since it was warm. Most would
never guess that she was indeed the Weyrwoman except for the gold
dragon sitting on her ledge.

K'lvin had yet to go by and congratulate their Weyrwoman on the birth
of her child. With the way things had gone with Bahji and becoming a
Wingleader at River Bluff, K'lvin's simple life had been turned upside
down. Finding her out on her ledge, K'lvin decided it was the perfect
opportunity to be polite.

"Weyrwoman," he approached with a smile, "I came to congratulate you
on the healthy birth of your child, but by looking at you I could
never guess you had one."

She turned around to find the new Wingleader behind her. Her mind
searched for the name and Orlaith supplied it thankfully. "You're not
a good liar, but thanks for the sentiment." She smiled softly, setting the
flamethrower down into its chest. "Indeed, my daughter is healthy and
whole and is likely bothering her fosterparents this very moment." She
seemed a bit proud of that.

"Me? Lie? Never." He teased back lightly, "Flamethrower in order?" K'lvin
asked.

"Everything looks fine which is good because I'll be leading my wing in the
next Threadfall." It would be her first after the pregnancy since she had let
Lenala lead the last one. It changed things since it meant all of River Bluff's
queens would be in the air at the same time again. K'lvin probably already
knew this from K'sedel.

"I am sure it will boost morale to see the Weyrwoman's gold in the air again."
The presence of the senior queen always did that, at least, that was what K'lvin
had observed in his Turns at the Weyr.

"I don't know if it's morale or if it's just the dragons wanting to
protect her, but I like flying so that's all I think matters." Indeed,
Rhosyn had to get back into the saddle again so to speak. She wasn't
afraid, but she knew it would take some getting used to
again-especially with a new wingleader to work with.

K'lvin glanced upward at the clear sky, "Would you like to go for a
flight then? Xmrenth always complains because we never go flying just
for fun." And he could feel his bronze's delight in the thought of
having some time apart with the golden queen, after all, he wanted to
be in her good graces for when she rose again.

"Hmmm...I suppose I could spare a candlemark. It'll be a bit
though...I have to get her straps on." Secretly, Rhosyn had been
leaving the Weyr in short trips ever since she had been able to. It
was good to be alone with her dragon after being grounded for so long.

It had taken some doing but she finally managed to get Orlaith's
harness on. Rhosyn had changed into a pair of wherhide trousers and
the tunic was a bit thicker. She also had her helmet and goggles as
well as her jacket if they were going /between/. She favored a
straight flight though on such a good day. It was a sight watching the
small Weyrwoman get herself up into the saddle but she managed and
strapped herself in.

}:We are ready:{ Orlaith announced to the bronze as they waited in the
Bowl, a large golden form against the rest of the Weyr-a sight long
unseen for the Weyrfolk who waved as they passed.

Xmrenth was more than proud to be the one to fly with Orlaith, and
K'lvin had to remind him not to act like a lovesick pup. }:You look
radiant as always, Orlaith. Since we are new to the area we will
gladly follow you. I am sure you know the best flight paths.:{ K'lvin
rolled his eyes, but a grin that had been absent for a while appeared
on his face.

}:Very well:{ Even though her rider hadn't been able to fly, Orlaith
had. So her muscles had no problems launching herself into the air and
then grabbing the air to ascend. Alerting the watchdragon to her
intentions, she passed by the Star Stones and then headed off away
from the Weyr. She favored the trip inland, toward Garnet Valley. It
wasn't as hot as flying above the beaches. As large as she was, her
flying was quite smooth. Rhosyn, so small, was basically sitting atop
a flying battleship. Her queen performed none of the acrobatics of a
green and she had the stamina to outlast any other so she could just
keep flying for quite a long while if she wished. Since she wasn't
riding with K'lvin, she couldn't speak to him without shouting. That
was a blessing in many ways. But she was watching him. **How does he
fly? Does he have good form?** She was even sizing up his bronze in her mind.

K'lvin enjoyed the time in the air with Xmrenth. Occasionally he felt
himself glancing in Rhosyn's direction. She really did not look as if
she had just had a baby. That had not been a lie. After thirty-two
Turns together he and Xmrenth had caught a couple of golds before,
never a senior queen though, always a junior. He wasn't even sure if
he _wanted_ to catch a senior gold, already his plate was full enough
with just the things he had to deal with as a Wingleader. Yet, he
could feel that instinctual calling to Xmrenth to catch the queen when
next she rose.

His eyes surveyed the landscapes beneath them as they flew, and in
that moment of peacefulness his mind turned toward Bahji. K'lvin had
done his best not to think of the young weaver student. Whenever he
did a guilt sliced through him that was irreparable, something he
would never forgive himself for, and yet, something that he knew he
would do again if he had to relive it. He wondered where she had gone
to, and if she would ever come back. Did she hate him? Was she taking
care of herself? Did she have all of the weaving supplies that she
needed?

}:We are flying alongside of a beautiful queen and her rider. Would

you stop being so melancholy?:{ Xmrenth scolded K'lvin. K'lvin tossed
back his head and laughed, thumping his lifemate's flank.

**My apologies, I didn't mean to be a mood killer for you.** He left
thoughts of Bahji alone then, not wanting to impede his dragon's
flight with Orlaith.

Of course, even after so long, it felt right to be one with her dragon. Rhosyn
smiled easily, enjoying the ride. **I missed this so much.**

}:I did too of course:{

**What do you think of him?**

}:Younger than Nikornath but unproven. He speaks well enough:{

Of course Orlaith would say that after being flattered. She was a
gold, after all.

**Are you talking to him?**

}:Would you like me to?:{

**I think it would be good to get to know them better**

She knew what she was doing, but also that it was necessary. K'sedel
wouldn't be young forever. He might not even catch again. Rhosyn
needed to know she could trust whoever her next Weyrleader was. It was
necessary to get to know them, to know how they worked.
