D'hol

After the sound of the naked woman's feet faded, D'hol moved up behind
Jeyme and laid a hand against her side. "I didn't touch her."

"I know. I trust you." Jeyme said. Although she had been excited at
the thought of possibly having a relationship with her sister, Jeyme
had grown up with Judassa and knew how manipulative and devious she
could be. "I am just embarrassed at the caliber of my family."

D'hol wrapped his arms around Jeyme, offering some measure of comfort
and pulled her against him. "Don't be. They're not you."

Jeyme sighed as she leaned against her weyrmate, taking comfort in his
solid form, "I do not know why I am so different from them, but I am
glad." Perhaps it had to do with how long she had been fostered away
from her family. Either way, she was grateful for where she was now,
and the difference that Quinneth had made in her life.

"I am too, personally. I doubt I'd be able to tolerate you otherwise."
His lips lifted in half-smile, then frowned. "I'm thinking that
Judassa may be staying at the Weyr."

"Probably," Jeyme scrubbed at her face with a hand, "there are far
more people for her to manipulate here than at the little place where
we grew up." She pulled away from D'hol's touch to cross the room and
pull her sleeping clothes out of their wardrobe.

"Well, she isn't your responsibility now, Jeyme." He turned to watch
her and then smirked a little. "And I'm sure she's making a spectacle
of herself presently."

Judassa had always loved being the center of attention, and Jeyme
figured that she would use this entire ordeal to her advantage in some
way. Judassa had a way of always landing on her feet. Jeyme didn't
care though, as long as she didn't have to deal with her any longer,
"I am sure your dismissal of her was a nasty surprise for her ego."

One brow arched high and it was obvious that he was rather satisfied
with that surprise. He snorted and returned to the couch. "She was
probably laboring under the assumption that bronzeriders will grab any
piece of tail that presents itself. " Perhaps in his younger days he
would have eagerly taken the woman to bed, but he was older and Jeyme
was more than enough to keep his libido occupied. He sat down,
propping his bare feet up. "Besides, I'm more than satisfied with the
woman I have."

A smile curved Jeyme's lips as she came around the couch and sat
beside him, drawing her knees him as she leaned into his side, "That's
right. Who else brings you lunch and forces you to eat, hm?"

One arm lifted to wrap around Jeyme's back to tuck her close against
him. "I was thinking more of you putting up with me."

"Well, sometimes _that_ is a tricky task but," she pressed a kiss to
the tender junction of his throat, just beneath the jawline, "it has
its perks."

He gave a low rumbling chuckle and gently kneaded her shoulder. "How
is the little one faring?"

"All is well it seems. We have made it farther than last time." That
had to be a good sign, right? Jeyme hoped so, she couldn't bare the
thought of losing a second child. Since the last miscarriage had hit
her so suddenly, Jeyme still lived with a constant trickle of worry in
the back of her mind that it would happen again when she least
expected it.

"He'll make it all the way." D'hol replied with confidence. He leaned
to slip a hand under her shirt to lay flat on her abdomen. Fingers
lightly stroked over his skin, an air of content possessiveness around
the motions.

Jeyme liked D'hol's possessiveness, most of the time, and now was one
of those times, "I am trying not to get ahead of myself and think of
baby names... But of course I end up thinking about them anyway."

"There's nothing wrong with preparing." His other hand continued
kneading her shoulder and the other hand rubbed slow circles over her
abdomen. "What names?"

She could begin to feel the tension that Judassa had created begin to
ebb from her body, "Well, I have tried out mashing up both of our
names of course. Dheymen, or Jeydan for a boy, and then maybe Deylia,
or Jayla for a girl."

"Hmm..." he continued to massage her shoulder, pleased that she hadn't
attempted to add N'vanik's name anywhere in the possibilities. "Good
choices. I like Dheymen and Deylia. But I still believe it will be a
boy."

It didn't escape Jeyme's notice that her weyrmate preferred the names
that had began with D'hol's name. She smiled, expecting no less from
the bronzerider. "I guess we will see. Are you going to be at the next
healer's appointment?"

"When is it?" His hand stilled, laying flat over her stomach, fingers
spread. "If I can be, I will."

"It is at the end of the sevenday. A little earlier than usual
pregnancies because of... Well, you know." Jeyme waved her hand. They
would be hearing the heartbeat in a couple of sevendays and she
couldn't wait.

He nodded slowly. "I'll be there then. Now, " he sat up a little,
pulling her with him. "How about dinner and then a long bath?"

Jeyme smiled, "That sounds perfect." She had to admit, being pregnant
definitely had its perks, and one of them was that D'hol was extra
attentive... She could get use to it.
