Naton yawned sleepily as he woke, slowly becoming aware of his
surroundings and a slight pounding in his head. He'd drunk a little
too much last night at the celebrations. The celebrations! A grin
spread on his face, from ear to ear, when he remembered. He was a
Master now.
"Good morning," he practically shouted as he came bursting through the
door to Jylanya´s quarters. He winced slightly afterwards, as his head
was still a bit sore, but the grin never faltered.
Jylanya whipped around from where she was making their breakfast.
"Good morning," she grinned and dropped a curtsy. "Master Naton."
Naton practically glowed with pride and he swooped forward to wrap his
lady up in a tight hug, twirling her around. "I did it Jyls, I did
it!"
Jylanya giggled as they twirled and her arms wrapped around his neck
to hang on. She loved the glint in his eyes and that funny twist of
his lips. "You did," she agreed.
"Oof," Naton quickly put Jylanya back on her own feet as the spinning
brought on more dizziness than he was prepared for. "I also drank a
bit too much last night," he confessed sheepishly.
"Yes you did," she agreed again. "But I have something for you right
here. My brother used to swear by it," reached toward the counter
where a tall glass stood." "Drink it up."
Naton eyed the glass suspiciously. "What's in it?"
"Stuff," she said mysteriously. "But it works, even if it doesn't
taste great." She'd honestly tried to make it tasted better but there
was only so much one could do with the ingredients.
Naton made a face, but stepped forward anyway, taking the glass and
studying it up close. "Well, here goes," he muttered, taking a deep
breath before pouring the substance down his throat. When he finished,
he looked at Jylanya like a puppy who'd just been hit by it's owner.
"That's _gross_ Jyls, just gross," he shuddered heavily.
"Yes," she said taking the glass with a small smile. "It is."
He grabbed another glass, filled it with water and gulped it down to
wash away the taste, still shuddering. "How soon should it start
working?"
"Ten minutes or so and your head should feel much better," she said.
"Do you feel like any breakfast?"
"Yes, that would be lovely," Naton nodded enthusiastically, wincing
slightly at the pain it caused. "Something spicy, perhaps, to burn
away the taste of your concoction."
"Sure," she smiled. By now she knew his taste for spicy things and had
made up some spicy sausages to go with their other morning fare. "Go
ahead and have a seat. Vee should be up soon."
Naton hastily sat down like a kid ready for his birthingday cake.
"You're the best Jyls," he sighed as he rested his head on his hands,
looking up at her adoringly. "I still don't know how I came to deserve
you."
She brought a plate of food over to him and rested a hand on his
shoulder. That look had touched her down deep. No one but Naton had
ever looked at her quite like that in her whole life. A soft smile lit
her lips. "Ditto," she said.
