Saibra

Saibra

It had been a while since Saibra had been able to sit down and just
chat with Meledei, which made her feel guilty since her original
intentions had been to spend more time with the young goldrider.
However, taking over the Wing during Threadfall for Cyradis had
required more of her time than she had thought. And then there was
those "extra curricular" activities that Saibra indulged in as well
that sometimes took up more of her time than anticipated.

Today though Saibra had scheduled a lunch with Meledei in her office
via Chioneth and Elleth and she looked forward to catching up. With
lunch laid out, Saibra took a seat in her weyr and waited for the
other goldrider to show.

She didn't have to wait long before a light tapping at her door
announced the arrival of said goldrider. The door swung open a little
as Meledei's head popped through, soon followed by the rest of her.
"Hi Saibra." She greeted cheerfully as the wood clicked to a close
behind her. The call for lunch had been unexpected, but she wasn't
about to refuse. Besides, it meant the two could get to know each
other a little better. While she hadn't gotten the chance to do much
of that with either of the other goldriders, at least they were
consistent about seeing to any training needs and giving her the
opportunity to exercise her abilities instead of completely ignoring
her. Still, it was nice to have the opportunity to spend time with at
least one of them outside of their duties.

Saibra flashed a smile as Meledei came in, "Hey Mel! I hope you don't
mind if we take lunch on the couch? I figured we could just relax and
chat." She waved her hand at the arrangement and variety of food that
was present on the low table that was situated parallel to her couch.
The Weyrwoman's Second was in casual clothing, a pair of linen lounge
pants, and her favorite long sleeve shirt, with her black hair in a
loose braid over her shoulder.

"Don't mind at all." Meledei circled around the table and plopped
upon the couch next to the older goldrider. "Looks good. You got
bubblies, right?" She grinned, her teeth white against her tanned
skin and her green eyes sparkling bright.

"Can't have a girls-lunch without bubblies!" Saibra reached out and
lifted the lid from a basket to reveal a nice set of golden bubblies
that she had snatched from the kitchens. The Weyrwoman's Second
settled back onto her couch, her legs folded up beneath her, "Haven't
been able to talk to you recently outside of wing meetings and drills.
How are you?"

"I'm good." Meledei's fingers wriggled over various treats before
she plucked a sweetroll from among the goodies. "What about you? How
are you doing?"

Saibra's mind flitted through the various scandalous activities that she
had taken part in lately and she tilted her head to the side, "I am
good as well. Where did you and Elleth take refuge at during
Panitath's flight?"

"I went to this quiet little cove and had a picnic." She'd been there
before, and even had brought friends in the past. That time, though,
Meledei had simply wanted some time alone. "What do you do when you
have to leave for a flight? Sometimes those who don't want to
participate will gather for a party while they wait out the flight."

"I didn't go very far," Saibra confessed, "just far enough down the
beach to be out of Panitath's way. R'enh joined me after the flight."
She flashed a smile, "Unexpected actually, I was just planning on some
sun bathing until he showed up." The idea of a party was fun, Saibra
thought, she had never really considered that and usually just spent
the time reading, or napping.

Meledei's head canted a little at the mention of R'enh. "He did?"
And how, exactly, did he join her, she wondered?

Saibra nodded, "He did. Surprised me, of course, but I certainly
wasn't complaining." Any time spent with R'enh was always time well
spent in Saibra's books.

"Yeah." Meledei struggled to refrain from asking for details. What
exactly had they done? Did she really want to know? "Well, I'm glad
you...enjoyed yourself."

"Maybe the next time Panitath rises you and I can plan a girls'
outting and and take off somewhere for some shopping. Faranth knows
when I last attended a good Gather." Saibra shook her head,
she couldn't even recall.

"That sounds like a really good idea." Meledei usually preferred
being around people and fellowship with others generally was a
pleasant experience.

Saibra flashed a smile at the younger woman, "Good it is a date then!
Now, have you met that handsome painter yet? Esiah?"
