Arippa or Faldrimme

Arippa
Jeyme

Jeyme

She had left the Weyr as soon as word had reached them about the minor
holder that had gone missing. At first Jeyme had thought, what are the
odds that it would be at Green Valley? And then someone had said the
words 'recently married' and she had known.

Quinneth came in for a swift landing , and Jeyme hopped down, yanked
her helmet off, and shoved it under her arm as she strode inside the
hold.

"Milady can I -"

"I'm not a lady." She said to the man that try to hurry through the
foyer in her direction. Jeyme knew exactly where to go and she didn't
need some little stooge trying to make her fit into some "lady" mold.

Pushing open the holder's wife's parlor door, Jeyme finally exhaled
when the image of Arippa came into view, "I came as soon as I found
out."

"Oh Jeyme," Arippa smiled then her face crumpled and she ran to
embrace her friend.

Jeyme wrapped her arms tightly around Arippa, "I'm so sorry, Arippa.
How are you holding up?" She could only imagine what her friend must
be going through. If D'hol just disappeared... She didn't even like
thinking of the option.

"We still don't really know what happened but there was an awful lot
of blood." She closed her eyes but could still see the room in her
minds eye. "I don't think he's dead but nothing else makes any sense.
Who would want to do this to Reven?"

Steering her friend over to the couch, Jeyme sat down and shook her
head, "Someone who wants Green Valley, I would guess. Ironic since no
one stepped forward after Namrien died." Jeyme didn't know Reven
incredibly well, she had only been around him when he had been
courting Arippa. She had a hard time imagining someone overpowering
the thickly built holder.

"I try to send Mystery out to look but after awhile he forgets what
he's out there for and comes back." she shook her head. "But It's not
like Green Valley is that big. It's beautiful and I love it, but I
just don't know." She sat down and rocked back and fourth in her
chair. "Rendrall searches all the time every day but there are just so
many places to hide a body."

Jeyme grimaced a little at the expression as she squeezed Arippa's
hand, "There's no hope that he might be alive somewhere? You are sure
you are looking for a body?"

"They don't know or they'd tell me something, right?" she didn't quite
know how to make sense of this whole thing. "But I tell you this," she
set her jaw and a steely look came into her eyes. "If they've actually
killed him. I _will_ find out who did and and I will kill them."

"He'll be found, he has to be out there. He made vows to you that he
would be there to take care of you and protect you, and I don't think
a little blood and some broken furniture is going to keep him from
that." Jeyme gave Arippa's hand a reassuring squeeze. She had no doubt
that would Arippa would have horrible things planned for whomever had
taken her husband, and as far as Jeyme was concerned, they deserved
everything that they had coming.

"Oh, I don't think he'd stay away if there was any way for him to come
home. I'm just afraid he is injured somewhere. I just don't understand
who or why. Do you think maybe he was kidnapped," Arippa asked. She
shook her head. "No, anyone smart enough to kidnap him would have
asked for ransom by now."

Jeyme sighed, "That is true, they wouldn't have waited so long before
asking for money." She imagined Arippa's husband out somewhere
grievously injured and trying to make his way back to the hold. At
least, she hoped that's what he was doing, it was much better than the
alternative. "Would you like to go for a ride on Quinneth? We can give
the area a sweep." She doubted they would find anything but it might
help her friend to feel better if she was actively doing something.

Arippa blew out a frustrated breath. "This whole thing is just so
senseless, I need to _do_ something."

"Come on then, let's go look. We can cover a lot of ground by dragon."
Jeyme suggested.

"Really," her eyes lit up. She'd only had a couple of dragon rides in
her life. "What should I wear? I don't think I have any trousers."

"Just wear a long skirt that you can tuck around your legs. I won't
let the madam of Green Valley run around flashing the countryside."
Jeyme grinned teasingly.

"My _Riding Habit_" she exclaimed and ran towards her wardrobes.
Flinging one after another open until she found the right one. "I'll
need your help getting into this," she said as she pulled it out.

Jeyme gave her best holdgirl curtsey as she stood, "It would be my
pleasure, milady."
