Canine Snacks

Description: Illiana "rescues" her dog from Zackariath
Location: River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 9, day 27 of Turn 3

U'das watched the redhaired girl with admiration. She was a pleasant sight for the bronzerider's eyes. Of course, she was also young enough to be his grand-daughter, but never bothered him before.

Illiana was completly unaware of the Bronzerider's eyes on her as she made her way across the Weyrbowl as her own eyes were fixed on a handsome Bronze making his way across the Weyrbowl. She still hadn't been up close to a Dragon, excluding Tholath, the Blue who had brought her to the Weyr.

Zack stopped at his rider and bent down his great head so U'das could give his eyeridges a scratch. The bronzerider complied without being asked. After the long Turns together, the rider and dragon didn't need words to communicate. "A beautiful day with beautiful women, what else you could hope for?" he asked.

}: To catch them? :{ the bronze suggested, eyeing some greens that where sunning themself.

The Candidate stood there in complete awe for a few moments, well until Dasha tugged at the ball in her loose grip and ran off with the ball towards the man and his Dragon. The canine really was fearless, most would put their tail between their legs and run in the opposite direction, but not Dasha. Finally snapping out of her daze Illiana jogged over to where the man and his Dragon stood, the canine had dropped the ball at the Bronzeriders feet. "I'm so sorry about that, she just really wants someone to play with her, as if a full candlemark was enough." She bowed to the Bronzerider and his Bronze whe nshe came to a stop.

}: Ooh, a lunch! :{ the bronze eyed the canine with a hungry look.

"I'm sorry, miss, but if I were you, I would take that canine away before it gets eaten," U'das told with apologizing voice.

"Eaten!" She said in eyes flew wide open and her mouth dropped open. She gave a sharp whistle and Dasha returned to her masters side with her head down a bit, knowing that she had done wrong. "Dragons don't eat canines!" She paused and looked up at the bronze. "Do they?!"

"Well, I can't prove he's done it, but I can't be sure he hasn't either. Dragons can't always tell the difference between someones pet runner or herdbeasts they normally eat," U'das answered. He glared at Zack. "Everytime he sees canine or feline he threatens to eat it and I've once saved a feline from him. He is odd that way."

Illiana clung to Dasha's collar protectively. "I'm sure he wouldn't like the taste of a canine compared to a fat plump herd beast." Illiana said, trying to convince the dragon not to eat her beloved pet.

"Besides he ate yesterday, so he shouldn't be even hungry," U'das said and gave his dragon a pointed glance.

}: I always have room for small one like that. :{ "Well lets hope he doesn't get the munchies." Illiana chuckled. "And I apologise that i didn't introduce myself between admiring your lifemate and trying to save my canine from being a snack," she chuckled a little and put out the hand that wasn't holding onto Dasha's collar. "I"m Illiana, Journeywoman Beastcrafter, now Candidate, and this is Dasha." She indicated the canine with the tilt of her head.

"Nice to meet you, Illiana. I'm U'das, Torrent wingleader and that horrible monster is Zackariath."

"Oh he isn't horrible at all, he is quite handsome." Illiana said as she craned her neck up to get a better look at the bronze. "Well he might be a horrible monster if he tried to snack on my canine." She winked at the bronzerider so he'd know that she was just teasing.

}: She's talking sense. :{ the bronze preened a little being called handsome.

U'das grinned at her. "Watch the compliments or his head explodes."

"Ah but I am sure he is used to getting many compliments, not just from awe inspired candidates but also from the lady dragons." Illiana smiled up at the Bronze, flashy her pretty teeth.

}: I hope she impresses a green, :{ Zack remarked eagerly.

"Lass, you just got yourself an admirer, " U'das chuckled.

Illiana chuckled, and at her side Dasha tugged on the lead attached to her collar. "Well we can admire each other then," she winked at the great bronze, "but I should be off, Dasha is getting a bit restless, it is a few minutes past her regular dinner time, and Faranth forbid if she is fed a little late." She shook her head and looked down at the canine lovingly.

"Then hurry off. We'll see around, I'm sure," the bronzerider grinned. These new candidates certainly looked promising.
