Y'gel

Y'gel

Ready for their usual chat, Rhosyn had a few things to discuss with
Y'gel. Changes were coming and he needed to be aware of it in order to
get ready. She looked down at her hide. **So much to do and so little
time.** A Weyrwoman's life was never easy. Still, she had to keep
going to get everything settled so she didn't have to worry. Worry
wasn't good for the baby or so they said.

"Good afternoon Rhosyn," he said as he came through the door for their
regularly scheduled meeting. "How are you feeling today?" Of course he
wasn't her healer but he was a healer at heart.

"Eh fat and unruly, but otherwise-same as usual." She had a wry smile
on her face but she was visibly comfortable with Y'gel. It sort of made
her think when she realized he was going to be the one to deal with the
baby once it came out-and not her. So it was good that he was interested.

"My dear Weyrwoman," he smiled. "Fat is not what is going on here.
You're pregnant and you might feel that way but you're positively
glowing and beautiful pregnant, whether you choose to believe it or
not."

His dimples were in full view. "Most men find pregnant women quite
lovely you know."

"You keep telling me that. You know what though? My bed has been
emptier since I've gotten pregnant than it has ever been. So I'm going
to call your bluff." She didn't look particularly happy about that
fact. Then again, Rhosyn was trying to bluster instead of letting him
know just how lonely she felt.

"And do you equate the state of your nocturnal endeavors with your
beauty or lack thereof?" Y'gel tilted his head and and raised an eyebrow.

"Well yeah. I mean hey, good looking girls have their pick." One of
her brows raised right back and she had a rather incredulous
expression on her face that he didn't know that. "Or are you saying
that I'm pretty but no good in bed, is that it?"

"Are you _trying_ to pick a fight? Really?" This time he raised both
eyebrows. "You're used to variety," he smiled. "I get that. But the
one you _really_ care about isn't here and it's making you cranky.
That's just your hormones talking and in case you haven't noticed,
everyone around you realizes this. It is no secret and has nothing to
do with how beautifully you glow."

He got up and circled the desk to put his hands on her shoulders and
begin to rub. "Don't feel bad beautiful, it will get better." He
dropped a kiss on the top of her head.

Sighing, she had a quirky look on her face as she considered him. Him
and Briata...Hrm. "He'll never be here. And I'll never be there. So
what's the point?" And therein was the question.

"Never is a very long time," his voice growled from behind her. "Are
you so certain Loseth will continue to fly Panitath when Yumath is
there and has before? Or even Mnoranth, he is a very fine bronze in
his prime. N'vanik is a good Weyrleader but are you so certain?" He
continued to try and relax her. He wasn't sure where all the
negativity was coming from but his heart went out to her. "I didn't
think I'd ever find anyone again after Liranet was gone. Then it
happened... never is a very long time."

"Yes never is a very a long time. But maybe it isn't dependent upon
Panitath's choice. He chose Talryne, not me. So even if he came here,
she would too. And he will choose her feelings over mine. And would
she want to be around me? I doubt it. So no, he'll stay." It was as if she
just realized it-thinking it through in her head. "So I have to make the
choice-to keep waiting for him to never come or to try and find something
else." The only problem with that was she didn't want anything else.

"So, what do you do," he asked gently. It was easier when the person
you loved died, he thought. There was an end you couldn't argue with.
"N'vanik is a Weyrleader with a Weyrmate." Y'gel was careful in the
choice of his next words. "I know the heart wants what it wants and
you can't control that. But if what your heart wants, doesn't want
you... move on. You're worth a person who wants you Rhosyn. Not just
the child you carry."

"But what if..." She was really quiet then as she looked own at her lap.
In that moment, she looked much younger than what she really was. She
was the girl whose father had died and who had been sent away from home
at a young age. She was the girl that had been terrorized for most of her life
after Impression. "What if no one wants me?"

"You know you have two chances of that Rhosyn," he said with a smile.
"Slim and Fat." He dimpled just to see if she got the joke.

"Well I mean...of course there will be those that want me for my
dragon hide and my rank but..I mean really...who would want me for
me?" She shrugged her shoulders, thinking it over. "I don't know...I
don't know if I could ever turn it off." **Maybe I need to change the
subject** "So about those injured lists..."

Y'gel closed his eyes and shook his head then patted her shoulder and
walked back around to his seat. "Yes," he smiled and picked up his
record. "Falzeth is nearly healed. He should be ready for training in
another sevenday..."
