D'arvn

D'arvn

She didn't want to go back to her rooms, so Bahji made her way along
the Weyr wall and found a quiet cool spot. The images that Burst sent
her made her aware that it was under a small stone outcropping and it
was private. It was what she needed. She curled up, rested her head on
her knees and began to weep.

D'arvn heard the small sounds at first and then he saw the glint of
bronze under an outcrop. On of the very ones he used to hide under
himself at an earlier age. "Hey," he said softly when he peeked and
saw who it was. Then he crawled under the ledge and put and his good
arm around the girl.

Bahji started at first and then began hurriedly wiping at her eyes. "D'arvn."
When he put his arm around her, her head bowed. Burst, feeling her dismay,
immediately puffed up his chest and eyed D'arvn suspiciously. "It's okay,
Burst." Bahji whispered softly to soothe the already upset bronze. She leaned
against the bluerider and pressed her face against his shoulder.

"Hey hey," he soothed stroking her hair like he would have his own
weyrmate. "What's wrong sweetheart?"

She gave a soft sniffle, not answering at first. "I did something horrible."

He gave a soft snort. "What thing could you have possibly done that
was so horrible?"

Embarrassement made her hide her head a little deeper in D'arvn's
shoulder and she shook her head with a hard swallow. "I..I thought I
could show E'rae that I was all better. He's...he's not...well..." She
struggled and the words burst out of her. "he stopped touching me
because he was afraid of hurting me and I got tired of being treated
like I was going to break, so I went to a mating flight that Leith was
in and..and.. I mothed. E'rae's the one that uhm..grabbed and I
actually really liked it, but.." More tears welled up. "He was upset
with me after...I don't know what I did wrong!"

"I thought you said he wasn't exclusive? Sure sounds to me like he's
delusional." D'arvn shook his head. He'd seen enough of the other
bluerider to know he wasn't faithful to Bahji. "But, you do realize
someone else could have grabbed you right?"

"I don't know. I don't think so. I mean, he's like you and likes men
too, but I don't know about if he's been with uhm...other women. I
haven't asked." She bit her lower lip. "I know I could have been
grabbed by someone else. I thought...I thought maybe he would see that
I was willing to take that risk." She pulled away and spoke softly.
"Did I do wrong? I mean...other women moth flights, right? Weyr women?
He said hold women don't and I'm not a hold woman anymore, but he
sounded like he was disappointed in me. I don't understand." The last
words trailed off and her face revealed her youth and confusion.

D'arvn shook his head though he knew she couldn't see. "I don't
understand why he'd be upset either," he said puzzled. "It's not as if
he asked you to weyrmate or something when he had a right to expect
you to behave that way. No," he said pulling her back against him.
"You didn't do anything wrong. It's him that's out of line." He placed
a chaste kiss on her forehead.

She hugged him back and then spoke softly. "D'arvn? Was..was it wrong
to like it? The mothing, I mean?"

"Noooo," he chuckled. "It feels wonderful. And you can moth me
anytime." Bahji was a sweet armful, almost like U'fo for that matter.
The person inside was what mattered to him, not whether they were male
or female, he liked both. "Don't feel bad sweetheart," he said
brushing some hair out of her eyes.

She giggled at the offer and hid her face in his shoulder, not for an
instant taking his offer seriously. She sniffed away her remaining
tears and was able to smile as she felt his fingers on her face.
"Thank you."

"You're welcome," he smiled. "Now how about we crawl out from under
this rock and get some lunch?"
