Briata

Briata

Rhosyn had had an official message sent to Briata. She hoped the girl
understood this had nothing to do with the pregnancy or anything of that
nature. She wanted to be clear from the beginning that it was Weyr business.
So the Weyrwoman waited in her office, though she had requested that a harper
scribe come in and take a Record of the meeting. It might be important.

Briata arrived as soon as she could after receiving the message. She
arrived at the Weyrwoman's office and knocked upon the door. Brigel was
with her, of course. She hated to leave him with anyone and, to be
honest, he wouldn't stay with anyone for very long. Y'gel, to some
extent, but the baby's patience was still limited in comparison to her.
She stepped inside and offered a small smile. "You wanted to see me?"

"Yes Briata. If you can, please have a seat." Rhosyn would sit after she did,
though she nodded to the harper to note the time of arrival. "Thank you
for coming." Wondering just how to phrase everything, she fell back on
official speech. "I called you here today because I need to ask you a few
questions. Do you know a young woman named Bahji?"

Questions?? About Bahji?? That had not been what Briata had expected at
all. "Well, I do know her a little. I've helped her some with her
weaving." It had been a challenge, but one that Briata had found
interesting and fun. And the girl was nice.

"Okay you both worked together some. During any of that time, who have you
noticed interacting with Bahji?" Rhosyn prepared to take down the names.

"I'm afraid I've not really noticed anyone. We just sat down to work
together on weaving a couple of times and have gone our separate ways."
Briata tilted her head, her brow furrowed. "Is something wrong? Did
she do something?"

**Shardit! This is going to be harder than I thought.** Rhosyn was beginning
to think that she might have to take the hard approach. "She has been injured
recently and we are trying to ascertain why. Did she ever complain to you
about anything or anyone?"

"Injured?" The shock on Briata's face could not be feigned. "No. Not a
word to me." They didn't really see each other _that_ much. "Is she all
right?" The fact they were trying to figure out why meant that someone
had been behind it, but no one knew who.

"She's recovering, but we really do need to talk to anyone she may have
come in contact with. Try to remember.." **Please remember someone**

Briata nodded and closed her eyes for a moment. She sat there and went
back over the times that she and Bahji had sat together and woven. "No
one specific. I know she talked to several weavers before me and I was
the only one who was willing to show her anything. We spoke with various
weavers as they would wander in and out of the workrooms while we worked
together." Briata opened her eyes, her brow knitted together. "I wish I
could be of more use."

Sighing, she drummed her fingers on the table. "No, it's okay. Thank you
for your time. If you do happen to hear anything..." At this Rhosyn gave her a
look that obviously meant from both people or dragons. "Let me know, will you?"

"Of course." Briata nodded without hesitation. If someone had done this to her,
she wanted that person brought to justice.
