Description: D'naz gets a bit jealous and the pair talk about being exclusive
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 3, day 2 of Turn 7
F'aen was stripped down to the bare essentials, showing the lean cords
of muscle roped along his legs and the light padding of muscle along
his chest and arms. The weather and temperature were just right for
Scarleth's bath. Other riders along the Weyrlake were also taking
advantage of the fair weather and using it as time to wash their
dragons.
"Rinse!" F'aen called, thumping Scarleth's flank with the long handled
brush he had been using.
The green happily submerged herself in the lake, wallowing and sending
waves rushing up to the bank. Beside her a blue also washed, and
Scarleth couldn't help noticing the blue's size, which nearly equaled
a small brown.
Much the same as his dragon, F'aen couldn't help but notice the blue's
rider with his tall, broad shoulders and trim waist. **Nice view
today, huh?**
}: Definitely!:{ Scarleth purred.
"Nice day for washing dragons, isn't it?" J'zeem called out to F'aen.
A smile dimpled F'aen's cheeks, "Yes, it is."
D'naz rubbed the back of his neck to try and stretch out the kinks.
He'd been busy working with the weyrlings as they aimed to improve on
their skills of going /between/. He was hot, tired and sweaty. Walking
past the Werylake he contemplated a swim of his own, but opted not to
since the water was full to bursting with dragons enjoying the warm
sun today. He chuckled. He should bring Keluth out and do the same.
That was when his eyes spotted a familiar looking figure. He turned
and started heading in that direction.
"I do not think we have had the pleasure of meeting." J'zeem said,
abandoning his washing brush in order to extend a hand to F'aen.
F'aen did not miss the powerful display of tendons that ran up the
bluerider's forearm as he extended his hand. Shards, but how he loved
visiting the Weyrlake. There were always half-dressed men around.
Grasping J'zeem's forearm in the traditional dragonrider greeting,
F'aen smiled into the man's eyes, "No, we have not. I am F'aen, and
that is Scarleth."
"F'aen," J'zeem purred the name, "and Scarleth. Well met. I am J'zeem,
and that's Quaeth."
"Well met." F'aen smiled again.
D'naz stopped quite a few paces away. He frowned. F'aen sure seemed
comfortable with the other man, and the way he was looking at him...
He shook himself. He had no claim to F'aen, surely. So why did he feel
this terrible streak of jealousy coursing through him at the moment?
Clearing his throat, D'naz put on his best smile and walked up to his lover.
"Hello F'aen," then he turned and looked the other bluerider up and
down. "J'zeem," he greeted him.
F'aen felt a little startled by D'naz's approach, and a little trickle
of guilt pooled in his stomach. He didn't know why he felt so guilty,
he and D'naz had never discussed the limits of their relationship.
Yet, there was a part of F'aen that balked at the idea of losing
D'naz, or causing a rift in their easy, passionate affair.
J'zeem recognized the look he received from D'naz. It was territorial,
no matter how amiable D'naz may be. There were plenty other fish in
the sea, and J'zeem was by no means in the mood to get into the middle
of some complicated relationship.
"Well met, D'naz. It was nice meeting you F'aen," he smiled at the
greenrider, "I had better get Quaeth oiled." He gestured to the blue
who had moved from the water, to sun on a large rock so that his hide
would not be so wet for the oiling.
"See you around." F'aen agreed as the bluerider left. Looking sideways
at D'naz, he smiled, "What are you up to?"
D'naz watched the two of them, feeling the jealously growing at the
thought of what might have been happening between them.
When J''zeem backed off easily, D'naz let out some of the breath he'd
not even known he was holding. He then turned to F'aen, trying _not_
to come across the wrong way towards the man he'd come to care about.
"I just happened to be going by, and well," he looked back towards
where J'zeem had moved off to, "saw you here and, wanted to see what
_you_ were up to?" He'd done his best to hide the feelings he was
having, but he knew he hadn't succeeded completely.
F'aen didn't miss the hidden question. Although subtle, F'aen got the
feeling that the bluerider was jealous over his interaction with
J'zeem. For whatever reason, the thought that D'naz might be
possessive over him made desire curl in the pit of his stomach.
"Just being neighborly." He answered, a rakish grin covering his face,
"You could lose some clothing and help me finish up with Scarleth."
F'aen invited, his fingers tracing the buttons on D'naz's shirt.
Well _that_ invitation changed some of the feelings roiling around
inside him. With a sultry smile, D'naz started to unbutton his shirt.
"I'd be happy to help," he replied, though he was still bothered by
what he'd witnessed between F'aen and J'zeem. Even as he made to
remove his shirt, D'naz paused, and added, "Are you _always_ so
neighborly with the other riders? And just how _neighborly_ do you
get?" He didn't want to begrude F'aen friends or anything of the sort,
but what he'd witnessed had seemed like more than friends to him.
F'aen lifted his shoulders in a shrug, the muscles along his back
rippling smoothly beneath the bronze burnish of his skin, "I am
weyrbred, and was always pretty sure I would be a greenrider. It is
who I am. I have never..." The greenrider paused in the midst of
scrubbing Scarleth's muzzle, "I have never been with someone who
wanted to be exclusive."
D'naz nearly choked on F'aen's last word. _Was_ that what he wanted?
He and N'ril had been nothing _but_ exclusive outside of flights and a
few occasionally moments here or there. They'd both understood that
things happened in the Weyr, but had always turned towards each other,
been there for each other, and chose each other. Was that what he
wanted with F'aen?
He realized he'd been standing there, staring at the younger
greenrider in silence for a moment. "I...um...just," he heaved a sigh,
"I don't like to share," he finally blurted out, feeling a bit like a
pouting young child in that moment.
F'aen threw his head back and laughed, taken off guard by the
bluerider's honesty. He arched an eyebrow, "Is that what this is
about then? You don't like to share?" A smile played across the
greenrider's face, and he studied D'naz for a moment, "Ok, fine, while
I am with you in this," he motioned between them, "whatever this is, I
won't be with anyone else. Deal?"
D'naz couldn't help but chuckle as well. Laughter, after all, is
contagious. "Deal," he replied with a look that let F'aen know which
way his thoughts were headed. "Perhaps if I help you finish bathing
Scarleth now, I could take you up on that deal later?" He lifted his
eyebrows rather suggestively.
"I think that is a very good possibility." F'aen beamed.
