In the months since the Threadfall accident A'se had come to hate the infirmary, and everything associated with it, including the healers and other patients. Yet he found himself there twice a sevenday so that the healers could moniter his healing process.
"Hello, A'se?" Odarian said, searching the waiting room for the rider.
"If you follow me over here, A journeymen will be with you shortly."
"How much longer?" A'se demanded, "I don't have time to wait all day."
"Who does, rider," Odarian said in a light voice with a bit of a shrug, trying to make a joke. "It won't be much longer."
"It better not be," A'se said moodily, "you healers always take so sharding long."
"Well, you can't deny its been overly busy of late," he responded, _trying_ to keep the tone light.
"Well that's not my fault," A'se snapped. He had forced himself into such a horrible mood over the past months that he couldn't help it, "but we all know whose fault it is."
Moments like these weren't easy on Odarian. He wasn't close to his father, in any way shape or fashion, but he was sick of people making comments like this, to him. "Regardless of the fault, we still have to deal with the aftermath," Odarian said, trying to keep his voice steady, but a bit of an edge did creap in.
"Then can we get on with this?" A'se asked, his tone emotionless, "what do I need to do?"
"Just answer a few questions for me. Then Dantial should be with you straight away." Odarian looked in A'se's file, pulling out a hide. "Have you been feeling any discomfort since you were released?"
"Not often," the bluerider replied simply, knowing that by not supplying any more information he would succeed in annoying the healer.
"But something?" Odarian asked, in confirmation. "Can you describe the feeling?"
"My leg hurts," A'se said knowing that he was bothering the healer.
"Can you, describe how the hurt in your leg feels?" Odarian said, trying to get a little more information from him.
"I dunno..." A'se mumbled, intentionally trying to get on the nerves of the young healer, "it just hurts."
Odarian bit his lip, trying to withhold his frustration. "Well, if you allow me, perhaps I can apply some light preasure to remind you, so you can give a better description?" Odarian hoped just suggesting it would be enough to get the petulant rider to cooperate, he really _didn't_ like causing people pain.
"If you must, but I don't think that it will help any. It only hurts when I am climbing stairs," the blurider relented slightly.
"The stairs, well, thats something," Odarian said nodding, his mood lightening a bit. He made a notation. "So no discomfort anywhere else?
Are you sleeping well?"
"Mostly," A'se had experinced a few restless nights, but was not too worried about it, "Are we almost done yet?"
"Yes, you and me are. Dantial should be here with you shortly," he said, making movements as if to leave.
"Good." A'se replied, "hopefully he doesn't take his time about it."
Odarian shook his head, leaving the surly bluerider alone. He hoped he wouldn't have to deal with anyone else quite so prickly.
