Y'gel

Y'gel

Ever since she had accepted her pregnancy and begun talking with Reeva
about the changes that were coming, Rhosyn had become a bit more calm
and sanguine about the whole thing. For now, all she needed to do was
eat and work. That was easy enough. Most women flew in the queens?
wing through part of their pregnancy and she was almost past that
point where she was ready to fly, the danger of /between/ past. Lenala
would be grateful.

Still, on this day she found herself working with some of the
dragonhealers, falling back on another one of her skills. It was
soothing, working with her hands and helping the dragons she had given
her life to. Turning to wash her hands in redwort, she found herself
looking over at Y?gel across the distance.

**Hmmm he got a haircut, didn?t he?** She pushed a bit of stray hair
behind her ear that had escaped its plait. **He did. It looks nice.
And he shaved. I bet it?s so smooth** She stopped washing her hands
as thoughts continued to go through her mind till she realized she was
staring. **Dragonspit!** Turning around to face the table full of
dirty tools, she tried to breathe again. **What was I thinking?**

Walking across the healing cavern Y'gel saw Rhosyn staring at a table
full of tools. "Don't worry about those Rhosyn," he called "The
apprentices will clean and categorize them." It was a good teaching
tool he used to familiarize the young ones with the tools needed for
their craft and also so any of them could fetch the right one at need.

"Do you have time for a chat?" He asked and tilted his head toward his
office.

Remembering what had happened in that office once upon a chat, she was
momentarily distracted before she pushed herself into the present. "If you
like."

He walked to the door and held it for her. Once she was through he
crossed the room and leaned against his desk. "There's something I've
been meaning to mention to you and I thought now was as good a time as
any."

"And what might that be?" He was still fit as ever. Probably enjoying
himself still with Briata, though she was just a young girl. Oh aye,
Rhosyn was not a young girl by any means. She knew just how to wrap
him around her... Eyes travelled upwards from where they had been
perusing his form.

Y'gel maintained his bland expression with a twist of a smile in the
corner of his mouth. He'd seen that look before. But that wasn't the
reason he'd wanted to talk to her. "Rhosyn," he said to bring her
attention back to his face. "I was hoping we could talk about your
participation with the dragonhealing staff now that you're this far into
your pregnancy."

"Oh? Why? I'll be able to fly in my wing again soon or so the healers
tell me so you won't see me as much then. After that, though, is when
I'll be big, ungainly and mainly unable to do anything." Till then,
though, she thought it was worth helping out when she could.

Y'gel smiled gently. Trust Rhosyn to see her world as unchanged. There
was no doubt she was a brave person. "It is more about how your center
of gravity has changed. You'll soon be..." he paused to choose his
words carefully. "less agile and therefore in more danger near an
injured dragon." He held up a finger when she looked like she would
jump in. "I just don't need Orlaith distracted by threats to your
safety when she's controlling a wounded green."

"Ah but see, when Orlaith is the one in control, my safety isn't a
problem so she doesn't even think about that." Rhosyn had all faith in
her dragon and knew what she could or couldn't do. "I know I'll be
less agile but I don't plan on doing any of the climbing or any of
that anymore. I'll leave that to others. I can still suture and do
those sorts of things from where I can reach." Other pregnant women
still did their duties so she didn't understand what the problem was.

"Alright," he nodded. "I'll accept that for now. But there will come a
point where even that will have to stop Rhosyn. I hope you will accept
it with good grace when the time comes." That time eventually came for
every pregnant dragonhealer and he only hoped she'd accept it.

"I'm sure when I'm that fat and my ankles are that swollen, I won't
want to do anything." And just thinking about it made her grimace.
She'd be ugly then.

Y'gel chuckled. Liranet had once said much the same thing to him
though Briata had been far more secure. "Rhosyn, it's not fat, it's
baby and it's very very alluring on any woman. You should realize
that."

That perked her right up. "Alluring hm? Does it have anything to do with
me wanting to have you on the floor right now?" It just came out before
she had a chance to say it in her head. Rhosyn being Rhosyn though, she
didn't really look ashamed.

Y'gel knew better than to laugh, hormones being what they were it
would be a very bad idea indeed. But he did smile. "That probably has
more to do with the hormones coursing through your system," he said.

"In that case, what do I do to make it stop? Because this has been going on
all day. And I'm tired of it." She didn't like being on all the time.

"That," he said with a finger tap in the air. "Would be a question for
the Weyrhealer." Another point in time and he would have been more
than happy to help her out in a more primal way but his heart wasn't
in it. His heart was back in his own weyr with a certain dark haired beauty.

Rhosyn bit her lips and then looked up at the sky, letting out a big
sigh. "Very well. I'm sure all he'll say is I can probably manage on
my own. Stupid." **Not that I haven't tried that already** Sensing
they'd talked about everything he had wanted to bring up, she slowly
got up from the chair. "That was all you wanted, wasn't it?"

"Yes," he said and nodded. "Besides that, how are you feeling?"

"Same ole same ole. Plus I eat like a runner. And I have to pee every
little while. Other than that and a tinge of sick in the mornings.."
That was waning, though, thank Faranth.

He nodded. "Well things are progressing then," he smiled. "I'm sure
you'll get through it just fine."

"Hope so. Don't know if I can say that for everyone else. I feel like I want
to strangle the world somedays." She smiled sweetly on that note and slipped
out of the Y'gel's office.

Y'gen smiled and shook his head thankful for his weyrmate's calm
confidence. He didn't think he could survive Rhosyn in close proximity
for long.
