Characters: Sabonus, Uetia
Description: Uetia has a letter from her brother that she shares with Sabonus.
Location: River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 1, day 2 of Turn 7
Notes: Mentioned: Uegot

Uetia and Sabonus had choosen to stay in River Bluff Weyr for the Turn Over
celebrations.
A messanger had just bought Uetia a letter and she sat down to read it.

"It's from Jade Harbour hold," she noted from the stamp. "Must be from my
brother," she opened it eagerly.

"Which one?" Sabonus knew she had several.

"Uegot, his wife and children live there," Uetia said after glancing the
signature. "Wanna hear?"

"Sure," he said, flopping down on the sofa beside her and leaning into her
side so he could follow along.

"Dea sister," Uetia started to read aloud. "I hope this letter finds you in
good health and all that stuff. Well, he never been one for small talk. I'm
fine and wife and children are fine too. Growing like weeds."

"Not a surprise in your family. More like trees." Sabonus was not a small
man himself, but he felt average height around her family!

"Yeah, and Uegot is huge even in our standards. I don't think anybody ever
offically measured us, but he has to be the biggest one. Can you imagine
the amount of food needed to fed us?" she smiled at her memories and then
returned to the letter. "I actually have news to tell. Did you know
seacrafters are opening a hall to Sunstone seahold? I've applied and
accepted to a position in the new hall, so we will be moving to Sunstone."
"Well, that's great news. Perhaps you should apply for work from there too.
Unless you want to try your luck, Orlainth just had a Mating Flight," Uetia
suggested and nudged Sabonus.

"Getting sick of sharing your bed with me already?" he asked, nudging her
back. "I've been to Sun Stone. There wasn't a pretty enough girl to keep
me there. I'd much rather stay here with you."

"Sooner or later you'll take another ship assignment, sailor-boy," Uetia
predicted and snuggled closer.

He was more than happy to slide an arm around her and pull her into his
side. "Yeah, for a few a couple months, maybe, but then I plan to come
home to sleep next to _you_, not in some Hall."

She gave him a kiss and continued the letter. Uegot described in more
details his new work. "Uegot teaching? I don't know if I should feel sorry
for him or the apprentices."

"Wait, what is he teaching again?" Sabonus had been a little distracted
by the smell of her hair to catch that part

"Navigation," Uetia replied. She continued reading the letter: "She's
happy I'll be staying home. We shall see how long she tolerates me
underfoot, before wishing I was back at sea."

Sabonus sucked air through his teeth. "That was never my strong point.
Shards if I could tell which way to look with a sextant!"

Uetia laughed. "What really amazes me, is how Uegot can handle all those
delicate instruments with his big hands without breaking them. As a
teenager, he used to break lot of dishes. We are still teasing him about
it."

"Big hands can be _very_ gentle," Sabonus reminded her with a sly grin.

"I know." Uetia grinned back.

"Keep reading," he said, his hand moving to her knee. The faster she got
through it, the sooner he could find something to do with his big hands...

Uetia kept reading, although the most important news had already been told.
Rest was mostly how the family was doing.

"Wait, he's how old and has _how_ many children?" Sabonus was trying to
count.

"32 and they got four children, been married about ten Turns," Uetia
replied. "You know how it is with seacrafters, you come home, get your wife
pregnant, go off again and come home to do a headcount."

Sabonus threw his head back and laughed. "Well, we better get to it if
we're going to catch your brother!"

"I'm a greenrider, I just can't start popping out chilren every second
Turn," Ueatia said and jabbed his ribs.

"Well, yeah," he agreed. That much he knew! "But... do you _want_ kids?"

"I--I don't know, I've never really thought about it. I don't _feel_ like
I'm motherly type, not like Savia," She flauntered around with the words.
Savia was her sister-in-law, and thanks to the age difference between her
and her oldest brother, only mother-like person from her childhood who she
properly remembered.

Sabonus was more than a little surprised that she had not at least thought
about it. Shards, he had enough times! "Do you _like_ kids at least?"

"Yes, I do like them," Uetia replied, on firmer ground now.

"I mean, I'm not saying right now or anything," he assured her as he went
ahead with his thought, "but I always figured that _someday_ we would...
you know... Start a family of our own." Sabonus couldn't imagine not one
day being a father, but could not fathom having children with anyone _but_
Uetia.

"It's worth a thought," she said. Now that it was out, and she was thinking
it, it didn't really feel that bad idea.

"You and I, we would make _great_ parents." He could just imagine coming
home from a voyage, being greeted by Uetia and a child or two running down
the dock with outstretched arms to meet him as he had seen children do when
their fathers came home. Sabonus wanted that. Perhaps not now, but
someday, and with _Uetia_.

"Well, we would," Uetia agreed.

He tilted her head towards him so he could look her in the eye. "Just
think about it. Please?"

"I will," she promised.
