Pierka

}:Mine would like to talk to yours,:{ Loseth told Liddith. }:He's in
his office.:{

That made her gulp and dismiss the weyrling she'd been working with.
**Tell him I'll be right there.**

}:She comes:{ replied Liddith a moment later.

**Please let Keluth's know I've been called to the Weyrleader's office.**

She listened as her lifemate passed that message as well. Pierka
trotted across the bowl and into the corridors that would lead her to
the Weyrleader. She slowed down the last few meters so she could
recover her breath. She knocked on the door before she opened it.
"Sir," she smiled. "You wanted to see me?"

"Yeah. Have a seat, Pierka." He waited for her to sit. "I got a report
from the healers that you're cleared to fly, but how are you feeling?"
His shoulder still ached after flying Fall, and he'd only pulled the
muscle. The poor girl had been scored down her back.

She couldn't be anything but truthful with the Weyrleader so she gave
him the bare facts. "I still have some stiffness, But I'm working on
that." She couldn't help the guilty feeling that swept over her. "How
are you feeling?"

"I'm good. My shoulder hurts a bit if I use it too much, but my head
is fine. I've got a hard head." He smiled.

She was still very glad her fall hadn't incapacitated him. It had
caused her no little embarrassment and still caused nightmares at
times. "I'm so glad," she murmured.

"And I'm glad you're healing, too. You recently turned sixteen, and I
don't want to rush you into the Wings, but when you feel physically
ready, there's a place for you in my Wing."

A smile immediately lit her face. "Yes sir," she said and sat up a
little straighter in her chair. She was almost eager to begin training
with the wing. "I would like to start drills if I may," she said.

He was pleased at her enthusiasm. He'd been worried she might be
nervous about joining a Wing, especially his. "Sure. You can start
drilling with us tomorrow."

She couldn't deny the heart pounding in her chest but she wasn't going
to run. That wasn't in her nature. **We're going to fight Thread.**
She could feel an equal excitement in her lifemate.

}:Now?:{

**No, we must train with the wing first.**

"Thank you sir," she smiled. "We won't disappoint you."

"I know you won't." He gave her a warm smile. "And I don't want to
rush you into flying 'Fall until your physically ready. So we'll see
how it goes with drills." They still needed every rider, but it wasn't
as desperate. He could spare the time to ease Pierka into the Wing.

"Yes sir. Of course," she replied. She couldn't deny she was a little
fearful of exposing herself again to another scoring but her Liddith
needed to fight Thread with a primal hunger she couldn't deny. It was
what she'd been hatched to do and Pierka couldn't drag her feet now
that she was almost fully healed.

"Do you have any questions? Concerns?"

She knew she had a lot to learn in drills before she'd be allowed to
fly Threadfall. This was just a first step. She took a deep breath,
"No sir."

"Good. Then welcome to Hurricane." He wanted to keep an eye on her.
Not that he doubted her, but after the accident he felt a little extra
protective of the greenrider.
