D'hol

Finishing the last bit of oil on Yumath, D'hol swiped it off with an
experienced hand before Yumath settled into the sand. An affectionate
smile lifted D'hol's mouth as the bronze spread his wings, intent on
soaking in the sun as much as possible. Bending to wash his hands
in the lake water, D'hol splashed water on his face and then moved
to sit back on the sand; it was rare that he actually
got a moment to relax.

When she'd first began bathing Quinneth out at the Weyrlake the
process had awakened aching muscles in her body that she didn't even
know she had. Now though, those sore muscles had become toned and
defined. Also, in concordance with her haircut and new embracing of
Weyrlife, Jeyme was clad in a revealing swimsuit that showed off her
willowy figure and lengthy expanse of legs. Once again she would
define it as liberating!

"Allright Quinn, rinse off." Jeyme instructed, patting the growing
green's flank as she stepped back onto be shore, water sloshing up
around her as she left the water. Reaching up she ran a hand through
her newly short tresses.

At first, D'hol was so intent on his relaxtion that he barely noticed
another scantily clad woman in the lake. They were common enough and
while he appreciated the views, it had become common place. But the
young woman had emerged near Yumath and him, so she caught his eye far
more readily. And he recognized her. His voice was utterly calm as he
laid his head back onto his hands. "I see you took my advice."

At the voice Jeyme turned and smiled when she saw that it was none
other than Wingleader D'hol. The man was a picture of self confidence,
which Jeyme was learning was usual for him.

"Yes, Wingleader, it was partly that and I don't want anything to do
with Hold life any more." She squinted against the sun as she stood
before him, one hand resting on a shapely hip.

"Smart move. You couldn't have much to do with it now, anyway."
He rolled his head slightly to look at her, one brow quirked upwards.
"So you just decided to take the plunge and get it completely over
with? Most take a lot of time to do that. It's hard to let that old
life go."

Jeyme lifted her shoulders in a shrug as she took a seat on the ground
beside of D'hol, the beaded drops of water on her skin glittering in
the sunlight, "I didn't have much choice, really. I got the infamous
"disowning" letter from my parents." She looked over at D'hol and
cracked a grin, "Good riddance to them, I say."

"Really." His gaze was for a moment, intense. "You say that now,
but I'd wager that it hurt getting that letter. It's actually not
uncommon and they should tell new weyrlings to expect it. But
as you say...good riddance. You can take comfort in the fact
that you're saving their asses every time Thread falls." He
shrugged, but his eyes followed a drop of water as it slid
down her midsection. "Why are you sitting there, anyway?"

The greenrider raised an eyebrow, "It's a free Weyrlake isn't it?"
Jeyme challenged with a smile as she leaned back on her elbows,
stretching out her legs to get the maximum amount of sun, "I never got
to do this before coming to the Weyr, Wingleader, so don't crush my
dream." She teased as she tilted her face back and looked up at the
cloud free sky.

"You never got a chance to show off your bits and pieces?" D'hol's
voice was dry. "Congratulations, then. You'll never have a lack of
an audience here."

Jeyme laughed while shaking her head, "I don't think I've ever heard
anyone call them 'bits and pieces' before." She looked out at Quinneth
who was rolling and thrashing in the water, without an ounce of
dignity or poise. She loved it. The young green loved when it was time
to go to the water and bathe.

"Would you prefer the cruder terminology?" D'hol turned his head
back to the sun and closed his eyes. His lips curled upwards in
slight amusement as one ankle crossed over another in relaxation.

"You are a piece of work, Wingleader, and I mean that in the most
respectful way possible." Jeyme glanced sideways at him, being able to
more freely look at him while his eyes were closed.

There was a distinct rude snort. "Respectful because you have to be,
or you want to be?" Though his eyes didn't open, one brow quirked
higher," Who are you trying to impress?"

"A bit of both I suppose. The respect is ingrained, although there's a
much larger side of me that just doesn't want to hear from the
Weyrlingmaster because I may have put my foot in my mouth while
talking to a sarcastic Wingleader." Jeyme replied honestly.

"Oh please. If you offended me, I'd be the first to tell you. And I'd
drag you to the Weyrlingmaster myself, after I kicked your shapely
rump all the way there."

The word "shapely" did not escape Jeyme's notice and she smirked
silently to herself, "Well then, it's good to know where we stand,
D'hol." She used his name with an an arch of her eyebrows, "I'll leave
you to your relaxation. I've got to get Quinneth oiled."

"Always a good thing to know." He finally opened his eyes to meet
hers with a slight smirk. "Yes. You do. Before Yumath decides
it might be fun to introduce her to flirting early." He pointed
with his foot towards the lake, where his big bronze was already
looking over the little green with interest.

Jeyme stood, brushing off her "shapely" rump as D'hol had put it, "Oh,
she'll be ready soon enough." She winked before turning and heading
back down to the water, where Quinneth was patiently waiting, her
pastel green wings lifted so her under sails could be oiled.

D'hol was non-committal, but he did watch as Jeyme walked away,
eyes wandering down the line of her back and down to her legs.
**Nice view, Weyrling.**
