Briata

The gold waited patiently as Briata finished the message. She stretched out a
leg when Briata was finished and had already placed it in a tube. The tube was
then slipped into its pouch and Briata gave the image of Parale to Jewel. The
creature chirped and then disappeared /between/. She reappeared an instant later,
but it wasn't in front of her pet. Rather, it was before another woman. Jewel
chirped and landed in front of Parale, looked up at her expectantly, then chirped
again.

Seeing the little queen and knowing what that meant, she grinned. Putting Parys
down into her cradle, she grabbed a small piece of meat to coax Jewel near and
then got the message to read it.

Dear Parale,

Brigel is growing faster than I can think. It seems like he was born just yesterday.
It's hard to imagine that it's been two months. I honestly find it hard to remember
life without him. He's such a blessing. I wish you could come visit, but perhaps we can come
visit you when he gets a little older.

How are you doing? Are things going well with your family?

Briata

Reading the news, Parale smiled to herself. Briata had a son. Perhaps it wasn't the way she had
thought it would be, but she still had a child to raise and he was healthy.
Maybe he would become a dragonrider like his father. Sitting down at the table,
she scratched the queen's eyeridges before scrawling a letter.

*****
Briata-

I've got news of my own. I am now the mother of a baby girl.
We have named her Parys and she is a very darling little thing. Healthy and
growing all the time. Her sisters are helping me look after her and I think
she's brought us all together. Ioven and I are working on things and he's happy
to be a father again. It is good to not have to worry. A dark head of hair
adorns her crown and we are of course unsure of her eyes yet. I am tired but
complete.

A visit would be wonderful. I so wished our children might
play together as they grew, but I am happy for you that you've found a place to
belong.

With Warmest Thoughts,
Parale

**************

"Allright lovely, take this to your Briata please." It was much easier
and less time-consuming to be able to send things by the firelizards instead of
runners.

~*~
Briata read the note and her lips curled in a sad smile. Had things gone different,
their children might have very possibly grown up together. But she had learned that
things don't always go as planned. That seemed to be the case in her life especially.

****

Parale,

Alas, such is the state of things. Still, we can visit from time to
time I hope. I am happy for you as well! And I am glad that things are going
well at home. Are the other girls excited about a little sister? I am glad
they are a help to you. Fatigue seems to come along with a baby, but that too
shall pass. How are things at the Hold?

Briata

Briata placed the message back with her gold firelizard and sent the
creature back on her way.

~*~
When she received the letter and read it, it took some time to think about her
response and how she felt about it. When she was sure she knew what she wanted
to say, she began to write and the lines took shape after some time.

*******
Briata,

The girls do seem to be excited. Syren's transition from baby to older sister hasn't been
as hard as I feared. Venrys was behaving oddly before, but since Ioven and I are
doing better, she has improved. The Hold is changing too. Lord Morin is building
everywhere. What and why, I don't know, but there are always people and the
ships are in and out too. I am still getting used to the weather changes, but
it's easier since I'm not carrying so much extra weight. Perhaps I'll take the
girls to the beach again soon.

To think, I never would have seen myself married with three daughters some turns
ago but here I am. I suppose everything works out in the end, even if we don't know
what we're doing. My duty to you and yours as always and when you are able to visit,
we would love to see you and your boy. I hope you're staying healthy.

Parale
********

Parale,

I am glad to hear. I have heard rumors about the new Hold, but nothing that bears mentioning.
I fear I can not shed light on why Lord Morin is building - perhaps he merely wishes to expand
now that he is considered a Lord Holder? If ever you wish to visit us, please send word. I am
sure we can work out a way to get your family here. I hope to be able to visit you soon.

With Fondness,

Briata
