Waking up after she had seen the healer, Rhosyn realized this was
going to be a problem. She was going to have to stay in bed, keep her
skin medicated, and be watched. They said she'd probably have a fever.
Then, she'd be on light duty until her skin healed up. Growling and
hating being stuck like this with Turnover coming, Rhosyn went through
her head and decided on a plan of action. **Tell Y'gel I need to ask him a question**
He had been there at the Flight so it wasn't like she was sharing her
predicament with anyone who couldn't figure it out. And he wouldn't
laugh. He was a healer too. }:Augashyth, mine needs to speak with
yours. She's in her weyr:{
"I have to go," he whispered to his tiny son and got up to lay
the child next to Briata on the bed. She'd lain down for a nap and
he didn't want to wake her, but Orlaith had summoned him to the
Weyrwoman. "I'll be back soon," he said to the sleeping baby. He
briefly allowed his feelings for the lovely woman on his bed to show
on his face before hurrying off to meet with Rhosyn.
**Tell her I'm on my way... but quietly. I don't want you to wake Briata.**
When he came in, she didn't move, but she did pull the covers up. This
was so ridiculous. At least the numbweed was doing its job. "Y'gel, I need
to borrow your daughter. In a big way."
"My goodness woman, you look like someone boiled you. Are you sure I
shouldn't get the healer?"
"She's already been. And you didn't see me. I didn't look like this.
If anyone asks, K'sedel was just a little too rough." She gave him a
look that if she heard otherwise, she'd know who said it. "Seriously,
though, before the fellis kicks in, I'm going to need help with
Orlaith and someone to run errands and help me. I thought Gelira
would be perfect. She'd also keep her mouth shut."
Y'gel shook his head. "Who's going to believe K'sedel was rough?" She
was going to have to think of another one if she was going to be
believed. But he agreed as far as his daughter was concerned. "I'll
send her to you right away." He had turned to go before he turned
back. "Is there anything else I can get you in the meantime?"
"Isn't there some water somewhere around here?" Her head
was hurting so it was hard to be sure.
"Yes, of course." He could tell the drug in her system was beginning
to stop working so he quickly went to the table and poured a glass. Bringing it to
her he supported her with one arm while he held the glass to her lips
with the other.
He was holding her under her armpit which seemed to be the only part that
wasn't burned, thank Faranth. Otherwise, she would have let out a scream
even with the painkillers. Drinking quickly, she subsided back onto the pillows,
looking like a mess. "Mmm thanks. I'll try to stay awake long enough for her
to get here so I can tell her what I need her to do."
"Let's not take any chances," he said as she sank back. "You tell me
what you need and I'll tell her. Just in case you're asleep by the
time she gets here."
"Just....Orlaith will need tending. And then, I'll need numbweeding and fellising,
and help with changing and bathing and stuff probably I don't know.
Solieira will see to my meals but I'll also need someone to run
interference with everyone else. Lenala can do my wing duties and
K'sedel will do what he can but...I don't want anyone else in here
except certain people. I look like a boiled spiderclaw." Not able to
help it, she sounded quite pitiful.
Y'gel was very used to dealing with patients and his face said what he
told it to say. This time it was sympathy that showed even though
amusement was just under the surface. Rhosyn was clearly not used to
illness. "Alright, I'm going to go get her now and I'll brief her on
the way up." He set the glass of water near her. "It's there if you
need it. She'll be right here."
"Okay..." She started to drift off. The fever was beginning to start and she
felt so cold even though she was in a tropical Weyr that usually burned her
to death.
