K'sedel

Sleep. **N'vanik where are you going? Stay here, please? Please? No,
don't...** Cloudy with the rest of the Flight's effects and also tired after
such an ordeal, Rhosyn was curled up in the furs, still chasing dreams.
It was a good thing too, because she was not going to be happy when she
did wake up.

K'sedel had woken some time before, and had gently eased himself out of the
bed. He'd dressed quickly and had sat on the side of the bed, waiting.

It was a bit of time but finally the Weyrwoman came around. First, she
was groggy and confused. Wiping her face, she sat up and looked around.
When everything came into focus, she saw K'sedel and relaxed somewhat.
And then pain began to enter her brain. She was burning. She was burning
everywhere. Letting out a small cry, she stopped moving, not quite
comprehending what had happened.

"Stay still," K'sedel said gently. "Do you want me to get you a healer?"

"What...what's wrong?" She couldn't move to look and the lights weren't on
in the whole room so she was in shadows and confused. "It hurts.."
Her first instinct was to go find some cold water. But it hurt to move. She
was trying to keep her pain to herself but it was beginning to bleed through,
tingling at the sleeping Orlaith's consciousness. When she moved again,
that produced another cry, forcing her to stay very still.

Partially opening a glow, K'sedel then went to find a jug of water and
poured her a glass. "Take this and sip slowly. I think you were out in the
sun too long." His words were mild, not wanting to alarm her even more than
he needed to.

She took the water and drank, wincing when her arms hurt as she moved
them. When she had sipped a bit, glad for the coolness-though she wished she
could simply pour it on herself, Rhosyn began to think about what he had
said. She was out in the sun too long. That meant...**Oh shards. I'm
sunfried!** Groaning, she put the glass down and considered. "Ummm..got any
numbweed?"

"I think there may be some," K'sedel got up to look in the cupboard in the
flight rooms. It usually held some supplies, not all flights went smoothly.
"Ah, there's a small pot here, but I think you will need a healer."

Sighing, she closed her eyes and shook her head. **Why did this
have to happen? Turnover is coming and I have so much to do and...Oh FARANTH!
That means Lenala is going to be...shards!** Well at least she could trust
Solieira to handle the feast and everything else. "Well can you put some
wherever you see lots of red and then we can call one?" That way she could
be blissfully numb long enough to make it to her weyr where the healer
could find her.

The pain had increased and now it was enough to wake up Orlaith. Disconcerted and
not understanding why she had woken up to find hers in so much hurt, her draconic
mind automatically attributed it to be K'sedel's fault since he was the one with
her rider. }:Nikornath, why does mine hurt?:{ she demanded, pushing the bronze. At the
same time, she pushed quickly into Rhosyn's mind, distressed and upset as she felt
the burning sensation taking over.

"Great. Now she's awake." Acutely aware that she needed to calm her dragon
down quickly before it upset the rest of the Weyr, Rhosyn closed her eyes and
concentrated on Orlaith. **It's okay. It hurts, but I'm okay. I was out in the sun
and I didn't have a covering so now it hurts. K'sedel is going to give me some
numbweed then I'm going to try and get to the weyr to call a healer. Calm down,
my heart. I will be fine. Just some sunscorch.**

}:But it hurts so much and it's making your thoughts slower because you
hurt:{ Crooning, the queen wanted to get to where her rider was, but she
knew she couldn't move just yet. Her wings were sore from the exertion of the
flight.

**I know it does. You need to rest. I'll handle this mess. I promise I'll be
fine. I just need some numbweed, a healer, and maybe a dip in
cold water.** That sounded heavenly just then.

}:I will rest once the pain stops:{ was the gold's final reply, but she did
subside, curled up with Nikornath.

Nikornath spread a wing protectively over his mate. }:Mine will help yours,
he did not hurt her, the sun did. We can all keep her safe, if your rider
will let mine help:{

Meanwhile K'sedel was gently doing as he was asked, applying the numbweed
with the same gentleness he would use on his young daughter. "Is that
better?" he asked after a moment.

"Mmmmm yeah. Now if I can just wrap something around and manage
to get to the weyr, I can maybe sit in some cold water and wait for the
healer..." She started thinking how ludicrous this was but that was life.
Stupid things happened. "Of course everyone is going to think you broke me
in half and now I'm recuperating." A short little laugh followed that
statement as she waited for him to finish. "You have my permission to say
that's the truth. Sounds much better than this."

K'sedel looked around. "Aha!" he said after a moment, "Looks like someone
left a robe or two in here, just in case things got a little..." He didn't
have to continue, there were some Flights when the participants were so
eager to go with the flow that clothing was shed before they made it into
the room. "This one," he said selecting one. "This one looks pretty light."

With enough numbweed on her to feel like she was floating, she gingerly put
her limbs inside the robe and then wrapped it around her, feeling the sticky
salve stick to the material. It was easy enough to see her figure outlined at
that point. Sighing, she nodded. "Is the coast clear?" She felt like a
little kid as she took a deep breath, ready to make a dash to her weyr and
suffer for it later.

**Is it?** K'sedel asked of Nikornath.

}:Yes,:{ came the response. }:My mate and I will make sure of that.:{

"Go for it," K'sedel told her. "I'll go past the infirmary and ask a healer
to go to your weyr."

Once she saw the healer, her next task would be to tell Lenala she was going
to have extra duties for a bit. Nodding, Rhosyn went as fast as she could carry
herself, making it to the weyr in record time. Once she was within her own space,
she let out a breath, peeled off the robe and tried to get some cool water arranged.
