D'hol

D'hol

"Do I
want some more of that creamy puffy thing? Well of course I do!"
Rhosyn
reached out to grab one off the tray and pop it into her mouth. Known for her
dancing, the Weyrwoman was
trying to marshal up her energy reserves so she
could keep going into the night. Of course the time change was
effecting her
somewhat. Flushing the puffy thing down with some water, she thanked the
drudge before turning around to
see what tune the harpers were
playing.

Picking up a glass of wine, D'hol strode through the crowd, his
sharp
eyes taking in his surroundings. A slight smile strayed onto his
face,
recognizing some and giving them a nod of greeting. It was a jovial
time and he'd already
done his share of dancing, so for now he was simply
mingling as was
expected.

Her eyes saw wingleader knots. Then they
travelled to the face. Not
one she knew. He was Dolphin Cove, though, so
why didn't she know him? A look of confusion crossed her face,
before she
made her way through the crowd. Of course, it didn't take long since Rhosyn
was not above pushing and
people knew better. When she reached his back,
she tapped on it. "Excuse me?"

Feeling the tap, D'hol turned. Eyes
flicked over her knots as he gave
a slight bow of greeting. "Weyrwoman. Can I
help you with something?"

"Well I don't know, but I did want to know who
you are." Rhosyn thought that
was a helpful answer and was pretty easy to
respond to in fact. Indeed, she
was being quite agreeable.

Brows rose
as lip corners lifted. "D'hol of Bronze Yumath, Wingleader."
He inclined his
head again. "And from your knots, you'd be Rhosyn,
would you
not?"

"Indeed, the one and only." It helped to be Weyrwoman since most
people
knew your name and gave you good wine. Rhosyn appreciated that.
**D'hol..
do I know him? Don't think I do.**

"Don't think I've ever
met you before so welcome to Dolphin Cove I suppose.
Where did you come
from?" She was trying to detect an accent, but the wine
was doing pleasant
things with the harper music and it was hard to place.

He smiled at her
curiosity. "I've been working up north since they've opened
and only recently
returned south to lead a wing here." His smile remained,
noting the slightly
fuzzy look in her eye due to the wine. His head tilted.
"Why do you
ask?"

"Cause I don't know you and I like to place people. Where were you
born
then?" In her mind, she was making the necessary connections. It was
always
very good to do it with bronzeriders because transfers happened and
they
could end up in her Weyr just as easily.

There was a soft
chuckle. "You start out just at the beginning, don't you?"
D'hol shook his
head slowly. "That's not really that important, to be honest.
I'm
Weyrbred, through and through, but I'm here now. The past isn't
as
important." He considered her for a moment, his wry smile remaining
on
his face. "Is it because I'm a bronzerider that you're so
suddenly
interested?"

"No. It's because you're here. And the past is
important. For instance, my
past includes your Weyrleader, his wingsecond,
the Weyrlingmaster, and my
wingsecond. So..I like to know who and what
people are. D'hol you said?" She had ways of
finding things out, but him
evading her question brought up red flags. If
anyone made trouble for
N'vanik, they'd have her to deal with unwittingly.

Brows shot back up and
a look of amusement flittered across D'hol's face.
"Oh, I see. And you have
claims to all of these people? How utterly
amusing." D'hol's chuckle was low.
"Your past doesn't matter here. Not
to me. Your responsibilities are not
here, they are at River Bluff. " He kept
the smile on his face. "So, now
you know who I am. Any other questions
for me?"

He was one of those.
Like M'galec. **N'vanik needs to send him back packing
wherever he came
from.** "No I do not have official responsibilities at
Dolphin Cove, but that
doesn't mean I can't find out about one of its
wingleaders. And I still
outrank you regardless of what Weyr I am from.
And that will always be so
until the day comes when I pass. So, D'hol of
bronze Yumath of some Weyr or
other, I think I'm going to go find my
Wingleader." The insinuation was there
that U'das was much more of
a man for her to be speaking to.

"All
true." His smile didn't falter. In fact, he looked even more amused
at what
he considered to be the sulky reply of a child. "You do that.
I'm sure that
your 'wingleader' will be only to happy to entertain
you."

**Oh no,
he'll be happy to keep me from hitting you in the face in the
middle of all
these people.** "Mmmm, he sure will. U'das was the
longest serving southern
Weyrleader for some time. Tell me, have
you ever won a senior flight?" **Bet
not.** It was sort of comical,
really. Here she was-this tiny woman-looking
up to the much-older
bronzerider who kept smiling in her face. And she was
clearly
much-annoyed. The difference was, though not immediately
understood
firsthand, her dragon was bigger than his dragon and she knew
this.

}:Zackariath, yours better get running or mine is going to get
herself in
trouble again:{ Orlaith told the bronze, laughing. This wasn't
going to be
the first time Rhosyn had gotten into a fight at a Dolphin Cove
hatching. Of
course the other one had ended up with N'vanik swinging
instead.

"Good for U'das. Quite proud for him. Really." He tilted his
head
to the side. "I'm sure you know him quite well." The insinuation
was
obvious. His brows quirked at her question and his smile
widened. It was
amusing, this tiny slip of a woman trying to
intimidate and get to him. The
image of a little snapping puppy
at his heels came to mind and he chuckled.
"Go on to your
collection of riders, Weyrwoman." He gave a bow. "It was
a
pleasure." He turned on his heel, still chuckling.

"Oh I'm proud to
know him." **Glad I don't have to see your face everyday
too** If she wasn't
so glad to be rid of him, Rhosyn might have stopped
D'hol from leaving.
Still, the sense that he was better going than coming prevailed. It
didn't stop her from looking visibly annoyed. **Maybe I should just tell
N'vanik
goodbye and head home. I always seem to mess up his
hatchings.**
