Description: The Weyrleader visits the injured greenrider
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 10, day 7 of Turn 6
Finally she was able to lay on her side. After what had seemed like
forever on her stomach at least the uninjured side was safe to lay on
without the healers scolding her. She knew Liddith wanted to get to
her but truthfully there was nothing that sleeping with her could
accomplish. They were still both in no condition to fight their
healers.
She'd spent a lot of time sleeping so she didn't recall exactly how
long it had been. Of course her friends who'd visited had been quick
to tell her about Loseth catching them as they fell and the
Weyrleader's resulting injury. Her heart had dropped at that one. She
couldn't remember it of course but still, he would have no confidence
in her in the future. She just knew it.
N'vanik peeked in and saw she was awake. "Hi Pierka. How are you?"
He'd spent two days in the infirmary for his head injury. The
headaches weren't as bad so he could walk around a bit, and he wanted
to check up on weyrling.
"Better," she tried to pick up her head from the pillow but that
tweaked her back. She grimaced. "Sorry sir." All her regret for
failing in the Fall was in her simple apology. "Thank you for catching
us." She tried to smile.
"Just doing my job. I have to look out for all of you." He felt bad
for her, and knew it could have been much worse.
She'd noticed the sling and felt awful knowing it was her fault. "Is
Loseth alright?"
"He's fine. It was him that got all of us back to the Weyr. How's
Liddith?" he asked.
Pierka smiled and felt her lifemate. "She's hungry but won't leave the
outside of the infirmary. Otherwise she is fine."
"Good to know she's okay. I'm sure we could get someone to feed her."
Maybe fine had been stretching it but Liddith was closer to fine than
Pierka. "Thank you sir," she said gratefully. She knew he'd remember
and have someone bring Liddith a tasty beast. "She likes the doe's the
best."
He smiled. "Special request, huh?" **Would you mind asking someone to
feed Liddith?**
}:I can bring her a herdbeast.:{ The bronze was in a much better mood
now that N'vanik was out of the infirmary.
"Oh, I'm sorry," she said with a blush. "I'm sure anything would be fine."
"Don't feel bad about wanting the best for your dragon. I was just
teasing." The girl looked so frail, laying there all bandaged up.
She looked up at him with a tentative smile. "Yes, sir." she said. She
wondered what it was about N'vanik that always made her feel tongue
tied. "I know she'll like anything they can bring her." She knew she'd
have to coax her lifemate to actually eat the beast. "How's her
color?"
He checked with Loseth. "She's looking dull, but it's probably mostly
worry and the fact that she needs to eat. He says her injuries are
healing well." Loseth had checked with the healers' dragons to find
out how she was doing.
"Thank you," she said with heartfelt gratitude for more than just her
lifemates lunch. Liddith always brushed off her questions about her
injuries and didn't really remember much of what had happened anyway.
Pierka laid her head back down on her pillow and closed her eyes.
"I'm sorry you got hurt," she managed before her mind started drifting
back towards sleep.
