R'enh

R'enh

R'enh had mentioned coming so Rhosyn had made sure to get some lunch
ready. It would be at the very start of his day, but the middle of hers. Either
way, she was looking forward to seeing him and hearing what he had to say.
She hoped things were going well. Sitting in her own sitting room at the table,
she looked at the spread before her and ticked her fingers as she
waited to begin.

When he arrived over the Weyr he tilted his neck to crack it. Shards
he had gotten up early but that was just the way it was when their
Weyrs were on opposite sides of the continent. Mnoranth backwinged to
touch down lightly next to Orlaith. R'enh dismounted and bowed deeply
to the lovely gold. "My duty to you Orlaith," he said with feeling.

"May I enter?"

}:She waits for you:{ Orlaith replied evenly as her eyes followed R'enh before
turning to Mnoranth. He was a welcome distraction and the gold took
full advantage of it.

Mnoranth relayed Orlaith's permission to enter so R'enh bowed to her
again and walked into the weyr's living area. "My that looks good," he
smiled and crossed to kiss her cheek. "How are you?"

"Same ole same ole. Waiting for our new vintner operation to produce
some good stuff so I can skim off the top for tithe." She grinned evenly
before watching him sit. "And you? Apparently Dolphin Cove hasn?t
imploded yet."

R'enh laughed. There was absolutely no one like Rhosyn. She was
unashamed and totally unique, that was one of her best qualities at
least to him. Of course as Weyrwoman she could afford to be. Other
riders weren't exactly in the same position and had to be more circumspect.

"No actually," he mused. "Things seem to be settling down well.
Everything is still working as intended." At least Panitath hadn't had
any more fits of anger that might drive the young dragons into panic.

"Good good. K'sedel mentioned that K'deren was talking to her." She
watched him, wondering if that could be confirmed. If it was, that was
interesting enough. Would R'enh want his colleague to get there before
he did or was he content with Elleth? "Said she seemed nice."

"Yes he is," R'enh grinned. "Maybe more, or soon will be from the way it
looks. But Panitath allows equal attention from all the bronzes. Mnoranth feels
confident."

"How's everyone else? Sh'del killed the kids yet?" She chuckled as she popped
a cookie into her mouth. She'd never imagined him as a Weyrlingmaster
but N'vanik had needed one.

"Well," he chuckled "I haven't seen any bodies laying around and none
of the dragons have been keening for their loss. So I assume they're
all alive."

"That's a good thing I guess. All of your weyrlings will survive." She
smiled before eating again. "Have you had any conversations with
Cyradis since we spoke last?"

"I certainly hope so. Mnoranth is very distressed when we lose one."
He picked up his k'lah and took a sip of the hot liquid before he
continued. "Mmhmm," he replied. "She seems quite good at the job from
what I can tell. Panitath seems to be quite sure they're staying. At
least that's what Mnoranth told me."

"Good I was right then. Now it just remains to be seen when she will rise
and who will catch. What would you do if you ended up Weyrleader hm?"
It was a thought provoking question. Rhosyn had never really considered being
Weyrwoman before the opportunity had come about at River Bluff.

"I could do the job and you know it," he grinned but his eyes held a
hint of the challenge of the job. "I'm certain Mnoranth has the skills
to catch Panitath." }:Yes I can.:{

"It's not that you can do the job, it's whether or not you want to. I mean...
before I honestly didn't really know what being Weyrwoman meant. I liked
the idea of no one telling me what to do and having a nice weyr and all of
that but..." She grew thoughtful as she remembered how she'd been before,
as a junior weyrwoman. "Of course, I can do this, I always could. I just never
really knew what I'd have to do."

"Of course I want to," his eyebrows twitched but the corner of his
mouth rose. "We don't get to choose though, you know that." He
realized she more than any was at the whim of her lifemate. The gold's
choice didn't just effect a few hours like a green flight. It effected
the whole Weyr for turns.

"You can more than I can. Me...I'll be here until the day I die." That was her
duty to her Weyr and she would uphold it. "It doesn't matter if Loseth loses,
though, he won't come." A slightly forlorn look came across her face then,
though she hurried to hide it. She would have moved mountains if she could,
but he didn't think of her that much. For now, what there was, was enough.
What if someday it wasn't?

He wasn't quite sure what she was expecting from N'vanik. Surely she'd
realized he had a weyrmate. But then that was one thing about some
women-they conveniently forgot the facts when the facts didn't match
up to their desires. So this time he just opted for sympathy.

"I know," he said simply."Did I tell you I met someone I really like?"

"No, you didn't. Do tell." She sat there quietly eating as she waited for his
news. Her mind had already started to race to conclusions as she thought
about the sort of woman who might catch his interest.

"Mmhmm," he mused around a bite of food. "We won her flight. At least
that was how we met. She's just... fun." He really didn't know how to
explain it more than that. "She's kind of young though so..." his voice kind
of trailed off.

"That's not always a bad thing. Meledei's young, but it'd probably be good
for her to have a guiding hand." Of course Rhosyn had no idea who he was
talking about so she just assumed.

R'enh laughed. "Not Meledei. Sorry I didn't explain. Her name is Aishara."

"Oh hm. I don't know this person," she gestured for him to go on.

"Greenrider in one of the other wings. I enjoy her company." R'enh
decided to change the subject. "What about you? Any prospects around
here?"

"Not at the present time, no," she shrugged. Of course she hadn't really been
looking-there was too much else to worry about, and she had to figure out what
on Pern she wanted with N'vanik before she'd be any good anyway. "Glad that
you're making friends though."

"I'll always be _your_ friend," he said with a smile and gentle
squeeze of her hand.

"Just a Weyr away," she snorted before she blinked and washed down her crackers
with a drink.
