You're Not Supposed to Look!

Writers: Chelle, Miriah
Date Posted: 3rd August 2012

Characters: Bahji, E'rae
Description: E'rae gets a good eyefull by accident.
Location: River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 9, day 4 of Turn 6

It was late, but Bahji enjoyed her more private time in the baths.
There were fewer people and to be honest, the constant splashing
by a crowd tended to overwhelm her sense of hearing. It made it
more difficult to know who was near her. She sighed, leaning back
in the deeper water to float, idly splashing her fingers into the water.

The warmth was soothing, furthered by the quiet around her. She
had already scrubbed the day's sweat away and now it was time for
simple relaxation.

Blueriding was tough work sometimes and when you didn't have much
rank, it sometimes meant you didn't have a private bathing pool. E'rae
headed down to the nearest common pool and found himself joined by
a few folks. He went about his business, stopping to admire some of
the others before he slipped into the water and started to scrub himself.

She couldn't help but hear the splash and immediately righted herself,
the water covering her to her shoulders as her feet settled on the pool
floor. It was getting late, and most likely the woman who had entered
also wanted the quiet solitude that she had enjoyed. She moved towards
where she figured the side of the pool would be, stretching out her hand
and searching.

Her fingers touched the rough stone and she carefully followed it, her
hand moving to the top to search as she went for her bathing towel.
She was sure she had left it close. Her tongue stuck just past her lips
as she searched, walking into shallower water. "Where is that towel..."

He couldn't help but hear her and he found it interesting that she didn't
see it when the thing was in plain view, folded. E'rae didn't think anything
of it before the idea occurred to him and he started to watch Bahji a little
more carefully. As a rider, he'd seen plenty of dragonriders blinded by fall
injuries, but she didn't look like a rider...

Brow knitting deeply, Bahji's frustration was evident. She let out a soft
curse as her hand searched. "I know I left it here." Perhaps she had floated
a bit farther than she had thought? She felt around the stone a little more
firmly and then lifted herself half out of the water and stretched to search
further. Her fingers groped for a further moment before brushing against
the thick material. "There you are." She smiled brightly and then with a
slight wiggle, hoisted herself up out of the bathing pool.

It was nice being able to watch without being seen and what she was offering
wasn't half bad. It was decidedly not a rider's body, but rather the softer
curves he had been familiar with back at the Hold so long ago. His
suspicions were confirmed when she took so long to grope for the towel.
Deciding this was time for an in, he spoke up. "You know you could have
asked and I would have gotten it for you."

The moment his voice echoed through the bathing area, there emerged what
could only be described as a mixture of a squeak and a gasp. Her hands flew
to the towel and she hurriedly covered herself before swinging around to
face the direction of the voice. She had assumed it was a woman with her,
certainly not a man! Oh sweet Faranth, he had seen her unclothed! She
hadn't even thought...

Her face flushed deeply, the blush spreading to her shoulders in her
embarrassment. She stammered a bit and stepped back, clutching
the towel to her tightly. She knew the Weyrs weren't as strict about this
sort of thing, but no man had ever seen her naked! "I'm sorry,
so so sorry uh..uhm...excuse me...I uh..." A full sentence refused
to come out of her mouth.

Sweet Faranth! Where were her clothes? They were near her towel.
She immediately knelt and felt around for her clothing, keeping her
towel wrapped tightly around her.

"Don't apologize, you have a very attractive body," he supplied helpfully.
He did note her embarrassment, however, and didn't come any closer.
"I'm E'rae, rider of blue Leith, and you are?"

Bahji's jaw dropped and her hand stilled as she swallowed roughly.
Her flush deepened. How was she supposed to answer that? Her
voice was a squeak. "Uh..thank you?" Her hands flew about her
and there was an evident look of relief as she found the soft
cloth of her dress. She brought it up to her chest and licked her lips.
"Bahji. Uhm...are you still looking at me?"

"If said no, would you believe me?" he quipped easily with a honeyed
tongue. "Why do I get the idea that you aren't from here?" It was easy
to discern really. Then again, even a Weyrgirl might be different if she
were blind.

"No. Probably not." Bahji shifted from foot to foot, then made her
own decision. It was difficult to gauge where he was exactly
standing due to the echo in the cavern, but turned her back in the
direction she believed him to be. Taking a deep breath, she found
her undergarments and hurriedly dropped her towel to slide them on,
keeping one arm up to cover her chest. It was awkward, but at least
she managed to cover her rear up. Scrambling with one hand to
find the bottom of her dress with one hand wasn't nearly as
easy.

"Maybe because I'm not and you're not supposed to look. " Her
nerves were rattled and the cloth of the dress seemed not to
have an opening. She stuck her arm in the wrong opening,
managing to completely tangle herself in her own dress.

"You look like you need some help." The water made rippling sounds
as he came toward her. "I'm sure I'm not the first one to look. I'm just
the first one who told you so. I'm not from here either. Where did you
come from?" He couldn't pinpoint her accent really.

"Oh, you are impossible..." She couldn't help it; despite her
embarrassment and flushed cheeks, she began to laugh, her natural
good humor returning. "I'm sure you'd love to help, but..." She felt
along the dress, finding the neck, then finally getting it straightened.
"I think I've got it and since it won't do any good to ask you to
turn around, just don't let me know that you're looking, okay?"
She turned her back to him and quickly pulled the dress over her
head. When her head cleared, she answered. "Sunstone Seahold."

"Ah, I'm from Garnet Valley. I went to Sunstone for the Gather though."
And somehow had kept K'mai out of trouble, thank Faranth. "Why did
you come here?" Obviously she hadn't been Searched.

Finishing typing her dress, Bahji turned her head. The humor of
talking with a man she knew was naked wasn't lost on her. "Everyone
keeps asking me that." She scrubbed her towel through her wet hair.
"I came here for a chance at a real life. There wouldn't be much for
me at home."

"Why's that?" E'rae sometimes missed the life he had before Leith had
turned everything upside down. Finishing up with his washing, he rinsed
and got out of the pool himself to start drying.

"I would think that would be obvious." Her brows raised and as she heard
the splash of him getting out of the water, she took an immediate step
back. "Well...I'll be getting to my little cot now." She flashed a smile
and laid her hand on the wall, using it to guide her back to the
pool entrance.

"It really isn't that obvious. You can still be useful despite your
disability. And useful bodies are needed in a Hold." His tone was
matter-of-fact. His family had always been working and he had
responsibilities from a young age. "And there's obviously nothing else
wrong with you." And then it dawned on him. Perhaps her father had
thought she'd never be able to find a husband.

She stopped for a moment, then gave a half smile. "I like to think there
isn't."

"You think...so you don't know? Ah..the Weyr hasn't gotten you yet." He gave
a small chuckle as a rustling could be heard as he pulled on his trousers.
The bluerider went about his business as usual now that she was dressed.
"Guard it well, m'dear, if you wish to. If you don't, be choosy."

"What?" Bahji blinked in confusion as to what he was referring to. Then, it
came to her exactly to what he was talking about. Her blush returned
ten-fold. "Oh... that.. uh...I don't think I have to worry about that."

"Why not? You're quite attractive. And there will be some-like myself-who
don't care that you can't see them." He didn't want to scare her, but he
could think of other problems it could cause. "Everything else works,
after all."

"You'd want to....oh.." Having a man, especially a rider, state that they
would be interested in bedding her was quite a new experience. Bahji
didn't think her face would ever stop being as warm and blushed as it
was right now. She had never really considered that it would be an option,
and she couldn't help but be curious, though the warring morals had
already set up in her mind. She needed to get out of there before she
actually considered it! "I have to go. It...it was a pleasure."

"Indeed. Good day to you, Bahji." A slow smile crossed his face as he
watched her go. It was probably a good thing that she couldn't see it
or she might have been even more embarrassed. Grabbing his things,
he got ready to go.
