Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 8, day 26 of Turn 6
It had been a beautiful rest day without the children. Just the two of
them with no other worries. A little of this and a little of that and
holding hands for a walk along a lonely beach while their lifemates
played with dolphins.
She smiled at the man across the table from her and poured him another
glass of the wonderful red wine they'd picked up.
"What a wonderful day."
"It has been," he said with a smile in return as he reached for the glass,
and too a small sip, savoring the taste.
This was a nice vintage. She hoped to visit the Vintner Hall again at
some point. She'd grown up there and the smells and sounds had taken
her back to her childhood in a moment. Of course it wasn't Amethyst
Cliff and it wasn't exactly the same. Her father's booming laugh that
was so much a part of her memories was gone these many Turns.
She brought her glass of the ruby liquid to her lips and rolled it
around on her tongue. She reached out an touched K'deren's hand where
it lay on the table. "I've been thinking..." she mused.
"Oh," he said, meeting her gaze. "I tell the children to be careful about
thinking, it can get them into trouble!" His tone was teasing and gentle.
She squeezed his fingers lightly with a grin "Oh I hope so."
"You have a certain kind of 'trouble' in mind?" he asked, returning her
grin.
"I do," she said and her grin faded slightly. She set her glass down
and picked up his hand as she stood and gently tugged. "I think it's
time," she said as she backed toward her sleeping area.
He got to his feet, following her. Then paused to try and pull her into an
embrace. "You're sure?" he whispered, before kissing her, gently at first,
then letting passion flare.
Cyradis didn't answer him with words but with her arms and her lips.
She showed him the depth of her feeling in the flare of her response.
All he could do was follow her lead from then on, and in this case it was
in the direction of the furs.

It was warm in her room but a light breeze swirled through the
curtains to cool their bodies. Cyradis pulled his hand from her waist
to her lips to kiss his knuckles. She lifted her head from his
shoulder to smile up into his eyes.
"I think that was about the perfect end to this day."
"Truly perfect, in more ways than one." He shifted slightly to make it
easier for her to curl up against him.
And she did just that, she entwined her legs with his and sighed
deeply. "I'd have to say the same to you. It's been a long time."
Since Panitath's last flight actually, but that didn't really count in
matters of the heart.
"Same here," he admitted. Excluding flights, there had been nobody since
Vonalie that he'd wanted to get that close to. "And it was more than worth
the wait."
"It really was K'deren," she almost whispered his name. She had been
thinking about it for days, but only tonight had the decision
crystallized in her mind to move forward. She was incredibly glad he'd
felt the same way. She hugged him briefly. "Would you like to help me
polish off that wine," she asked in a playful tone.
"I think we've both earned it," K'deren hugged her back. "Would you like me
to fetch it back here?"
She'd been planning to go fetch it herself but given the option she
said "Yes thank you."
He was as quick as possible, returning to the furs with the skin and
glasses. Wine was poured into them, and a glass passed to Cyradis. "To us,"
he suggested, raising his glass for a toast.
A tiny smile lifted the corner of her mouth in appreciation of the
man's form as he walked away. But she made sure her eyes were on his
face when he came back. She couldn't help the smile though, for the
man, for the situation. Yes, she couldn't help the smile as she
accepted the glass and raised it in response. "To us."
