She knew before she really rose to conscious thought that the man in
the bed beside her wasn't K'sedel. Even though her lifemate was happy
with her choice it wasn't Nikornath. Slowly her mind returned to her
and she felt discomfort with the situation.
She'd been a rider long enough to know this could happen and accept
it. So, she didn't move immediately she lay there awake for a bit
before he began to stir.
S'yei's eyelids fluttered as he began to come around, his body feeling
warm and satiated. He loved that comfortable feeling that one
experienced directly after a flight. A soft body was resting in his
arms and S'yei smiled as he remembered how adamant Yalith had been
about winning. The prize was certainly a nice one, the bluerider
decided. Ciara was a beautiful woman. K'sedel was a lucky man.
"I'm not going to have the Weyrleader waiting outside to kill me, am
I?" S'yei teased, releasing Ciara from his embrace.
"Oh probably not right away," she quipped. "He's more sneaky than
that." She pushed up and swung her feet over the edge of the bed to
look for her dress. Hopefully it was intact. K'sedel had ruined more
than one of them in the past few turns. It was something they
sometimes laughed about.
As S'yei, too, began to look for clothing he noted a button on the
floor that he knew belonged on his tunic. It seemed he was always
wearing one of his favorite tunics when he won a flight. **Although
I'd gladly suffer all of the buttons to be torn from my shirt for a
good flight.** He decided as he pulled on his pants.
"Yalith is so proud of himself. He'll be unbearable to live with since
he beat out some bronzes."
She smiled **no doubt.** Ellianith had never before shown any
preference for blue, in fact she almost always chose her mate's
bronze. Even in the past before she had been weyrmated her preference
had been more brown so Ciara was a little mystified by her lifemate's
choice this time.
}:He flew me well:{ her green almost pouted at her sleepily.
**Yes, I know he did.** she tried to send along her own flood of love
and acceptance. There was no doubt in her mind of where her own
affections lay. She pulled her dress off the floor and tossed it over
her head. Standing she let it settle around her and then slipped on
her shoes.
"It _was_ a good flight," she said to be as polite as she could under
the circumstances.
S'yei chuckled at the polite small talk from the Weyrleader's lover,
"Don't worry about it, Ciara." He said, hoping she knew there was no
need for her to go out of her way to make him feel good about the
flight or the fact that Yalith had won it. He was proud of his blue,
and he'd had a nice time with Ciara, but in the end they both had
other people in their hearts and that was okay. There was nothing
wrong with enjoying a flight and then going your separate ways.
"Alright," she said with a smile and a tilt of her head. At least he
was taking it well. That was more than she could say of some.
"Is there any water over there?"
S'yei turned to look behind him as he worked on rolling up the sleeves
of his shirt up over his forearms, "You're in luck." He said, stepping
sideways so that she could see the pitcher of water.
"Great," she smiled and began pulling her copious amount of red hair
back to wrap up into a quick knot on the back of her neck. she went to
the table and poured herself a glass. She pretty much chugged the
whole thing in a single breath. "Want some?" The pitcher was poised to
pour another glass.
"No, thank you, I'm sure I have a glass of wine waiting on me."
Hopefully with a certain vintner, S'yei thought as he made one last
check around the room to make sure that he hadn't left anything,
"Until next time." He smiled, tipping his head at Ciara as he
departed.
